Can't anyone take this movie at face value?

I absolutely loved this movie, as i did the first. It's amazing in it's own way. I'll admit it's a really cheesey way, but it doesn't try be accurate and credible, it's just entertaining! And it achieves that perfectly! If you can relax and enjoy a film for what it is, you cannot help but laugh out loud throughout this movie!

If you feel like analysing a movie for being accurate in the details that matter, go to "the da vince code" page. Please feel free to show off your knowledge of the bible and make an obscure reference from some rare book that you've read... but don't waste your effort here!

i can't understand people coming onto these message-boards to point out the flaws in movies like this. It isn't intended to be taken seriously! if you're gonna spend time to come on here and point out historical inaccuracies, please think about why you're doing it. The only possible reason i can see for posters to state trivial (and unwanted) pieces of information, is for ego-infalation. It seems to me to be a case of people feeling the need to show off how much stuff they know... why bother?

I thought the film was entertaining. I don't think I liked it quite as much as you did, but it did pass the time and I wasn't bored. Because I was watching this film I ended up having to do all my Christmas shopping in an hour when I could only find 3 shops still open. But I'm willing to admit that may not be completely the film's fault.

But I disagree about people arguing about the facts. I think it's interesting to hear the evidence behind the legends. Of course if people start getting too excited and calling each other names, I agree that's when it becomes silly and pointless.

I think the problem is when you know the facts, it can be very difficult to suspend disbelief and not get annoyed when the writers don't make any effort to research their scripts. I did 3 years of a genetics degree and get very irritated whenever scriptwriters throw 'genetic engineering' around as a bogeyman which can explain any silly idea they come up with. But I don't go round calling anyone names.

Aren't I great? (how's that for ego inflation)

Exactly, I wasn't disputing that they have to sell a product, just that it can be very annoying when scriptwriters write flawed storylines (which you can only pick out if you know something about the subject)

However, I doubt they know more about genetics than me unless they did a degree in it, as I have....

My beef with a lot of films which use genetics as a bogeyman to explain why monsters are created (e.g. a metal man) is that they just throw 'genetics' out as a coverall reason without actually thinking if it's a reasonable explanation. Dean Koontz did it a lot in his books. It gives genetics a bad reputation to the extent that anyone hearing you work in the field immediately assumes you want to unleash giant spider armies in a bid for world domination (I do, but that's not the point, people shouldn't assume).

However, this film didn't talk about genetics so maybe I'm going off-topic

Amen. Couldn't agree more. If you don't like it, watch something else. There are a lot of us that LOVE this stuff!

I can. I really enjoyed this film, I think it was a lot funnier than the first one and just a lot less painful than the first one. hahahahaha. But nevermind. I just enjoyed it cos it was silly and stupid and fantasy and evewrything like that. hmmm. I know I'm not making any sense, but in all fairness i've had about ten minutes sleep in the last three days. Oh the joy of work.

I have just one word for people who don't like The Librarian :
Shhhh!

I had much the same thought looking at the boards. I understand having a fun conversation about the absurdity of it all, but these are serious flame wars against some great movies.

Suffice to say, I enjoy these movies and some much worse ones. They're fun. Even my aunt who's married to a history buff (and a stickler at that) enjoys these.

I find these movies to be a gem. You know when you feel like crap and just want to watch some TV but nothing is on!? Even when using the Guide button to navigate channels you still don't see anything appealing but then decide a movie called The Librarian.

That was not my case the first time I saw this film. I actually remember renting it lol. Immediately after starting, I saw that this was pretty low budget but I liked the concept and lowered my standards enough so I was laughing at many parts of the film and ended up enjoying this made for TV movie.

Besides, this is way better than the crap the films made for the SyFy channel.
