Indiana Jones Wannabe

Can someone say that this movie is a copycat of Indiana Jones?

reply

I just watched it & all I could think of was "This is a D-grade version of Indy!!"

As Indiana Jones was a copy of Allan Quartermain (and other action adventure characters from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.) The difference being that The Librarian movies were an obvious satire of the aforementioned characters.

Go here,

http://www.theraider.net/information/influences/index.php

It has a very detailed list of all the classic adventures, inspirations, and the legacy of Indiana Jones and guess what...

The Librarian is one of many series that Indy has left his legacy for.

True it is very much like Indiana Jones, but so what. I have always felt that movies like The Mummy (the first one) Tomb Raider, and even National Treasure are great rip-offs. This series is another I add to that category.

its not a indy wannabe. its indy parody. that is two totally different things.

Really think so? Because this one's beginning IS in Utah (like Last Crusade) but predates Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by 2 years, and yet a Crystal Skull appears in this one, predating the last Indy movie. Which copies which?

TOP obviously does not know Allan Quatermain, the character Indiana Jones is the copy of.
I am specifically thinking of the 1950 movie King Solomon's Mines, with Stewart Granger as Allan Quatermain.
People should try to watch that old movie and compaire this Allan Quatermain with Indiana Jones and you will notice how much they both are very much a like.
You could be close to say, that if these two knew each other, then Allan Quatermain is the teacher and Indiana Jones is his student.
