McAvoy vs. McGregor

Does James McAvoy's acting style remind anyone else of Ewan McGregor's or is it just that I'm getting similarities because they're both from Scotland?

reply

Coincidence? I love James McAvoy and my last name is MacGregor.
A sign? Perhaps.

*evil laugh*

I didn't know that James sang! But if it's anything like Ewan than it must be great,

reply

He sings??

reply

mcgregor will blow him out of the water.

but i do see the similarities and facial expressions of them both. i just think mcgregor is more well rounded, a triple threat with his singing, acting, and physical stamina (in action roles).

i really like james mcavoy too.

As for action roles, now that Wanted has come out, I'd say all bets were off.

reply

Yes they are very similar, and they are both smarmy. I hate the way they portray Scots, it's embarrassing.

reply

i can see similarities tough i think mcgregor is better but he is also more experienced. i think mcAvoy can become better that mcGregor, but not yet

reply

I love them both and I really couldn't say who's better...I do think, though, that McAvoy is choosing to act in better movies.
Mc Gregor is pretty good but way to often he acts in real flops!

reply

I like both but McGregor is definately more smarmy and a bit of a lovey! I think overall that McAvoy is better and still has a lot to show. McGregor's star is is on the wane.

reply

You hate the way how McGregor portrays Renton in Trainspotting? I love it (but I'm not Scottish).

reply

Wow, McAvoy is the last person I'd call smarmy. Of course, the only Scots he's actually portrayed are Nicholas and Macbeth (as best I can recall). Sure you're not confusing the characters he's played with the actor who played them? Don't know that much about McGregor.

Kids don't like eating at school, but with a Remains of the Day lunchbox they're a lot happier.

I like James' acting better than Ewan's. They're both good, but I think James has better facial expressions. Of course, I've been finding a lot more of James' work to watch than Ewan's... so that may have something to do with it.

I think you're probably getting the similarities because they're both Scottish.

Them scots all look like each other. you cant tell one from another.

reply

for my part, being a very shallow but keen connoisseur of handsome men - McAvoy every time please. I find McGregor difficult to take seriously. I can't say why though. It could be something to do with Moulin Rouge and that giant elephant...

James McAvoy is superior to Ewan MacGregor. I do like Ewan as an actor and he has performed very well in some difficult roles, but McAvoy plays very tough roles (Last King of Scotland, Atonement, Becoming Jane, Wanted, Narnia, and the list goes on) with a grace and charisma that is just brilliant. His brings depth and nuance to each role he plays, even small roles in lesser known films. We love Starter for Ten, a cool little independent British film. MacGregor just doesn't have the same depth.
