Couldn't understand words around the end...left lost..

ok. Somebody help. Who WAS Maddie, was she a sister, or his wife, or what? When Jill took down the pictures on the wall and laid them on the floor, and I couldn't understand what she said, and then that water tank, and Maddie alive and bleeding, someone please help me and tell me what the heck happened, I watched the entire movie and was lost for the last half hour! What the heck was wrong with them anyway? And the mean Thatcher woman, was she their Mom? MAN I am lost!!!

Thanks to anyone who can help, would LOVE to know how it "ended".

Maddie was Roderick's sister. "We were born in each other's arms." (They were twins.) When Jill took down the pictures she figured out what the heck the curse was: Parents have twins and those twins have twins and those twins have twins...incest. Look at the names she's reading off. Not sure where the tank came from. It looks like Maddie went insane b/c of the incest and Roderick is trying to keep her hidden. She's standing there with the bloody hanger and bloody dress in the crotch area because she's trying to prevent the curse from going on.

Why did Thatcher vaccinate Jill's belly? Was she trying to kill the baby?

michelley19, thats what i thought but then in the end, she like kills herself kissing him.

I think what Jill said was, "It's one line." Or, "It's all one line." Meaning the lineage was all within the family, as another poster mentioned. I guess he knew Maddie wouldn't have his baby (hanger abortion) so he resorted to Jill, who he said was like a sister. The tank was probably supposed to represent the womb.
