Dawkins questions Jesus' existence, says he could be FICTIONAL

Our resident delusional mental patient Clyons has been OWNED yet again! The pathological LIAR said Dawkins and Hitchens never suggested Jesus could be fictional when they CLEARLY did! Clyons is nothing but a partisan ChristNUT who fails to realize the same way Christians dismiss other scriptures the bible can be dismissed as well! He is too brainwashed to understand there is not a SINGLE first hand account of ANY major bible character, not a shred of actual evidence they existed on earth, and they are nothing but allegorical FICTION!

PLAYBOY: What is your view of Jesus?

DAWKINS: The evidence he existed is surprisingly shaky. The earliest books in the New Testament to be written were the Epistles, not the Gospels. It’s almost as though Saint Paul and others who wrote the Epistles weren’t that interested in whether Jesus was real. Even if he’s fictional, whoever wrote his lines was ahead of his time in terms of moral philosophy

The commentary is better framed not as “the evidence for Jesus’s existence is surprisingly shaky” but that “the evidence points to the ‘Jesus Christ’ of the New Testament as a fictional composite of characters, real and mythical. A composite of multiple ‘people’ is no one.”

Moreover, anyone who has studied the religion, mythology and philosophy of antiquity knows that there is nothing morally novel or advanced in the New Testament that could not be found in pre-Christian times. What the composers of the New Testament have done is cherry-picked ancient ideas and reworked them to revolve around a fictional character in order to further their agenda.

Dawkins has been incredibly inconsistent about this. Basically he says nothing in this interview. Which I note with some amusement is in Playboy. Did he hang at the mansion with Hef?

It's pretty clear he doesn't believe Jesus was a fictional being, but he is trying desperately to remain relevant to the increasingly fanatical fundamentalist atheists--his religious cult. This forces him to take more extreme positions--and in any event, he's not a historian, or a scholar of ancient times. He's an evolutionary theorist. And increasingly, one whose ideas are becoming outmoded--he's taken up anti-religion as a hobby, because he's got nothing important to say or do as a scientist anymore.

What he said in this interview is equivalent to some televangelist saying the evidence for evolution is 'surprisingly shaky.' The fact is, nobody has PROVED evolution was the origin of life on earth, and many unanswered questions remain--the same 'logic' that you say proves Jesus was a myth 'proves' evolution is a hoax--in fact, both are quite real,a and only idiots would challenge the reality of evolution or the historicity of Jesus.

If you want to be an invincible skeptic about something, and ignore the experts, you can question anything. Dawkins is ignoring the experts--something he would not tolerate in his specialty. But he's nothing more than a talking head now--looking for some way to keep people interested in him.

Dawkins is such an ill-informed fanatic on this subject that he's actually driving some people back to theistic faith. Which personally, I think is an extreme reaction. There's plenty of ill-informed fanatics on BOTH sides. But none more ignorant than you, mega-loser.

And btw--are you NEVER going to explain how you could have taken a hoax news story seriously, when it was published on a hoax site that has its own Wikipedia article?

If you keep trying to scroll this epic humiliation of yours off the board, I'll simply copy the relevant stuff, and post it back up at the top. The legend of how you tried to prove Jesus was a hoax by posting an actual hoax shall never die here, Mega.
