comic strip starting to parallel the movies

Okay, in the daily comic strip, Jon and Liz have recently started dating. Also, Jon goes to a vet conference with Liz, which kinda relates to what movie Liz was doing in London.
Anyone notice other recent parallels?

BTW... G3 seriously needs to have Jon's family--DocBoy and Gramma and his parents....

Perhaps it's a retcon so that we don't have to see the movies.

The comics are still having new ones? I thought there was a finale many years ago.
