Garfield's 'cat tub'

Garfield goes into the bathroom and gets into one of the English toilets and turns a knob that turns on the water. Can somebody explain to me what is up with those English toilets, why are they so small and what's with the knobs?

reply

It's a bidet.

The knobs cause water to shoot up and clean your... stuff

reply

And people call Americans weird.

reply

that's a bidet. instead of toilet paper use the bidet to wash urself. Rich people & posh hotels & restaurants have them. I prefer this to toilet paper.

reply

The one thing i can tell all of you about the reason they have a bidet is because you look at the land mass that America has verses the tiny island that England is. You see they use those bidets because they do not have enough ground to grow enough trees to produce the toilet paper that would be used if those were not installed. Plus in America there are thousands of acres of dead trees that can be processed into toilet paper where England could pass as the size of a county in states like Alaska, Texas, and California.

reply

Hardly anyone actually uses them here.

reply

They're more common in Continental Europe than in Britain. It's a French word.
