I was relieved that she died. She was so whiny and helpless and would've only served to have delayed the group's mission or gotten them killed.

Hey, if Nicole from Dawn of the Dead '04 (who almost did get the group killed) survived, there was no reason for Becca to not survive.

reply

Nicole may have died at the end of Dawn of the Dead. I know some will argue otherwise, but getting ambushed by that many undead and with the limited weapons/ammo they had leaves me highly doubtful of their chances of survival.

The keyword is "may." She at least made it to the end of the film, unlike Becca.

reply

Me too. In fact I hated her so bad, I wish she'd died a worse death. Maybe instead of the hose breaking her neck, it pulls her up, suspended, and then the crazies disembowel her?

reply

becca's death has a purpose, see how the car was blown up after they all leave to check on her, hadnt she died they all have been dead too

It was a possibility that Becca was sick (just like there was a possibility with the other three characters in the car). If you think back on the scene where they have Judy and Becca strapped down in one of the classrooms with the crazies, you hear a lot of coughing from the other infected townsfolk. So Becca's coughing fit might've been a tell that she was infected or she just might've had a dry throat.

As for her death --- it happened so suddenly the first time I saw it that I really didn't feel any remorse for her passing until the other three continued on and she was absent. But yeah, I felt sorry for what happened to her (but the possible alternative would've been worse in retrospect).

It is possible that she had been infected, there were some nervous looks
in the car when she started coughing. But in the end it did not matter

reply

I felt really sad when she died. :/ she seemed like a sweet, regular girl. while watching it on dvd I went "Awwwe! No!" during that scene. heh. I admit it... I likey Danielle Panabaker! ;)

It's something about Danielle Panabaker, seems far too innocent to die. See Friday the 13th too - massive shock she got it from Jason, and generally that series has turned into the thrill of watching Jason kill rather than egging the victims on to escape.

reply

I didn't like it when either she or her boyfriend died. She died by being yanked out the car like that, and the boyfriend died while trying to defend his own mother from the soldiers. The Crazies is a great film i agree, but true needless deaths of character who should've survived much longer, always bug the hell out of me in these horror films. Judy only survived longer cos she's the co-star to Sheriff David's character, but yet she was pregnant and along for a couple of weeks with the sweats, a younger girl like Becca shouldv'e lived to be honest.

True. Had 'The Crazies' been a foreign film instead, Judy would've died somewhere in the middle of the film as Becca had in the carwash, and Becca lived on. Sheriff David would've lost it completely after Judy died, but Becca instead might've become a surrogate lover for him and for him to watch out and taken care of her. And basically continue looking out for her as Judy would've done.

Yeah, that's preferable to what actually happened in the film.

Personally, I feel Judy should have died near the end, as most people were probably expecting her to survive. David gives up on living and stays behind so Russell and Becca can escape. That way, David repays Russell for repeatedly saving his life.

Not all teenage girls can be Sarah Connor.

Come to think of it, none of them can.

I felt more sorry for heron Friday the 13th that was a true horror death, stabbed through the heart five minutes from the end

That scene got me as well. I really liked Becca.

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"

reply

I always thought she would die but i found her death the saddest part in the movie!
