WHY CAN'T INFECTED MOVIES BE SCARY LIKE REC OR 28 DAYS LATER????
"The Crazies" is a boring movie where nothing ever happens.
I spent the last five years of my life trying to find an infected or "fast zombie" movie that scares the s**t out of me the same way Rec 1, Rec 2 and 28 Days/Weeks Later did.
But every infected/"fast zombie" movie I stumle upon is either a complete borefest or so unrealistic you can't even expect suspension of disbelief without suspension of rationality. ("I Am Legend", I am looking at you! You had one of the BEST first halfs in movie history and you managed to ruin it with CGI and a bad ending!)
How hard is it to write and make a goddamn scary movie with the premise "Rabid cannibals / zombies are running around town/building killing everybody on sight and you can't leave town/building because reasons outside your control"???
I WANT TO FEEL AFRAID OF THE MONSTERS ON THE SCREEN!!! Does anyone understand where I'm coming from?
I'm sick of feeling safe and coddled and protected while watching horror movies! I want my senses to be raped like when I saw Inside or the first half of Descent!
Get your priorities straight, people who write and make infected movies! I don't care if the monsters look ugly or have an evil grin or an evil laugh or make weird screeching noises or whatever the *beep* you pussies find scary....
I WANT THE MONSTERS TO BE DANGEROUS AND SAVAGE AND UNPREDICTABLE AND SCARY!!!
I don't understand this... I honestly don't... Even the dudes who came up with the Horror masterpieces Rec 1 and Rec 2 managed to completely and utterly s**t on the franchise with Rec 3 and Rec 4. What were they thinking?!
The only other infected / zombie movie I found exhilarating is this little french gem called "La Horde". Then there's the first half of the french movie "As Above, So Below", which had some great moments. World War Z and Pontypool are movies I'd recommend, for completely different reasons. I think I enjoyed "Mutants" when I saw it but I can't really recall. Pretty sure there are other infected / "fast zombie" movies I found scary but I can't recall them now.
And what the hell was Cabin Fever!? How can a movie with such great premise be so bad? Are horror movie directors afraid we might feel scared? What's going on with the world?
