Paul Dano

I see a lot of people that are upset with this choice, but I don't understand why. Paul Dano is an exceptional actor and his demeanor is perfect for this role. Anyone who has read 'another bullsh*t night in suck city' should understand this.

This was a good role for Dano. He acquitted himself quite well.

reply

not my fav actor but he delivered

I live, I love, I slay, and I'm content

I think Paul Dano usually seems to do very well in the roles he gets so I'm surprised to even hear that people were disappointed in the choice of him for this film.

Still looking forward to seeing it. It sounds great.

I thought that Paul Dano did a great job in the film but his character constantly looked sad all the time.

reply

I didnt think he was really believable. I mean, he is a very unattractive actor, and on top of that he plays an unemployed loser with no charm. Yet, he get one hot chick after the other. Especially the one in the beginning (who also had a good job).

If the actor had been more attractive I could have swallowed this plot hole.

Hmmm....

But this is a staple of a lot of Hollywood films, isn't it?

I knew I wouldn't like this film when they went out of their way to establish Dano's character can easily get laid within the first 10 minutes, and he hooks up with a woman who doesn't want a relationship, but she is okay with being F-buddies. And his character is a writer, no less.

Yeah, riiiiight, movie. That's believable. Was Michael Cera too busy to take the role?

Paul Dano is a very bland actor and almost always seems to have that lost, dumbfounded look on his face, like he just smoked a really good doobie and he has the munchies.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

reply

Michael Cera.....too effen funny.

I bet whenever Dano gets cast, the director probably does say: get me a Michael Cera-type.

And add in Ruby Starks..

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Ruby Sparks and Being Flynn were two movies where I didn't hate Dano. I will continue to watch his movies, even though I an very much on the fence about whether he's good or whether he makes me want to stab myself in the eyes and ears.

reply

Paul dano has a sad looking face.

reply

Paul Dano is a very talented actor who held his own with DeNiro

reply

Are you male or female? I thought he was really attractive in this, I've got a bit of a crush on him now.

reply

He was an absolute snooze, and there was nothing in the way he played the character to suggest he'd have sufficient insights to even write a poem.

I thought he was great; possibly deserves an Oscar nod for this, at the very least. I've only seen him in two films now, but I would absolutely disagree with him being a "snooze," let alone unattractive in any way shape or form!

Look at how happy you are, so carefree. It's almost as if you don't know you're Billy Bush!-Triumph

reply

I find him to be pretty fascinating too. I can't wait to see Ruby Sparks!

He delivered the role perfectly. I was actually captivated by his performance for two days ; I delayed the finishing of the movie, something I rarely do, Cuz I wanted to chew the characters!
the disappointment u mentioned (which I am shocked to hear) might has something to do with the banal merits of conventional american viewer. A living proof is the guy here analyzing Dano's performance according to his/her kitsch taste of men's attractiveness...
this is the 3rd movie I get to watch by Dano & so far every single performance has been memorable.

Dull as hell. Hopefully he will be in less movies in the future.
