Yes, Scofield is a genius, but...

...he only pulled it off because he was lucky as feces.

If Sucre's cousin hadn't make a move on Maricruz, he wouldn't have come back to the cell to escape.

If the Warden wasn't building Taj Mahal, he wouldn't have bonded with Michael and he wouldn't have access to his office.

If Sara was a lesbian or if she wasn't into his type of man, he woulnd't have been able to ask her to keep the door opened.

If he hadn't crossed paths with Haywire, who was capable of remembering his tattoo, Michael wouldn't figure out the burnt area of his skin.

And so on...

reply

Yeah you keep telling yourself that.

reply

Telling herself the truth? It was all luck.

reply

If you think it was all because he was just "lucky" than maybe you really need to re-watch the series.

All of the planning he did and strategizing couldn't have done by any random idiot. Michael was a perfectionist and a lot of his plans worked because he spent time working on them and wasn't your average Joe.

Therefore it isn't the truth.

reply

You're right plus he was adept at thinking on his feet I remember they had to change the in-between to get to the infirmary but a lot of it was luck and everything the OP said was true but knowing Michael he would have found another way out of those situations.

reply

Lets be realistic here buddy. It had nothing to with luck. Had nothing to do will his IQ or his master plan either.

It all had to do with the writers room.

😉

reply

Troll.

i'm in the middle of re-watching the show and that's a very good point. his plan was perfect in theory for sure, but in reality the success of it was based mostly on luck. or you know ~faith~. he even says it himself, 'preparation can only take you so far, after that you gotta take a few leaps of faith'. it also doesn't hurt to look incredibly charming and attractive. michael scofield is a lucky bastard for sure lol

reply

If there were no glitches in his plan and it was full proof the show would have lasted like 6 episodes.

reply

He had a lot of bad luck too but he never gave up.

Sucre didn't want to break out in the beginning and that was the worst scenario, having a cellmate who is not willing to cooperate.

If Sucre's cousin... If the warden... if Sara... - well, Michael would have tried another way ;-)

You know, luck comes to those who want something and are ready to do everything possible to achieve.

reply

True because as many roadblocks as he hit he cleverly found a way around them.

reply

Well ofcourse a lot of thing were lucky but IT didnt go originali as planed as well..

He figured that any of his cell mates would like to escape, even if sucre would't come back probably haywire would have gone with him.

The original play wasn't anything to do with warden's office. He did that later cuz original planed failed.

The original plan didnt have anything to do with the doctor. His plan was to make a copy key. That also failed

About haywire remembering that was very very LUCKY becouse that could happen in anyevent even if it all went according to plan

But the rest of the stuff if he was trully lucky, all of this would happen as he originaly planned.

and so on... ;)
