Does anybody remember Just One of the Guys?

This seems a lot like that older movie.....

reply

I've been trying to find that movie everywhere! I guess I'll have order it online or something :\ I think this movie is a homage to it or at least the gender bending genre or something, except they replace baseball for soccer.

That's evolution, baby. So mutate or step aside.

reply

I think that movie is available on Netflix in Canada.

reply

I thought Just One Of The Guys was about journalism, not baseball.
Besides, She's The Man is explicitly based on Twelfth Night. The soccer part replaces the pranking-Malvolio part.

reply

You're right it is about journalism not baseball.

reply

Why did I think baseball? I must have confused it for something else.

Used to see it many times on cable HBO i think!

The comic device of having a person disguise him or herself as someone of the opposite gender has been around for hundreds of years (at least). It's been used in numerous plays, TV shows and movies.

reply

Yes. It's not one of my favorite films ever, but I do like it.

Yep. I watched Just One Of The Guys and was like "Wow. She's The Man is almost exactly like this".

reply

I got JUST ONE OF THE GUYS on DVD. It's a terrific 1980's comedy.

All of this [Just one of the guysa, which sounds fun, and this one, She's the Man] is based on Twelth Night by the one and only William Shakespeare.

There is a 1951 Warner Bros.one shot cartoon. "Fox in a Fix" (starrin g Mel Blanc of course) about a typical fox who intentionally fools the typical watch-bulldog type that you've seen in numerous cartoons by shaving himself to look like a rather large Chihuahua to steal the chickens (in short, fox dresses as dog). Otherwise that one's a typical fox-steals-hens-roosters cartoon.
