So people don't recognize...

...people by their voice? Ok, heights and builts could be similar, but the voice of a boy and a girl are DEFINITELY different from each other. Viola and Sebastian's voice were TOTALLY different, Viola didn't even sound like a male. Besides, their facial features weren't all that alike.

Ok fine, it's a movie. 

They also have totally different faces, and Sebastian looks six inches taller. Would a girl kiss a guy, even if his face is in shadow, but still not recognize that he is now six inches taller than before?

I agree. Maybe everyone in the movie was high and thought they were just "tripping" whenever Sebastian looked and sounded completely different.
