yeah if you go to ign.com and watch all the shadow the hedgehog clips youll hear the voices if youre still not convinced. I dont know maybe the 4kids actors were trying their best not to annoy us, but what really irritates me is when people are talking over and over in gameplay when youre trying to do something. Well the voices didnt annoy me that much, they sounded kinda different from the sonic x voices yet they are still the same voice actors =[

and yeah its a hell of a good thing they didnt get rid of david humphrey or else i would just leave the sonic franchise alone

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they did replace ALL the actors. Ryan Drummond himself said so, and if you watch the IGN video with Sonic alongside Shadow, he'll sound the same as his TV version. Jason Griffith does both Sonic and Shadow in the show, and now in the games as well.

yes ive watched them, all of them
sonic may have been voiced by jason griffith but shadow is not, if you check any sonic news site that has any details over shadow the hedgehog, david is still confirmed to be his voice actor. but before you start rammming at me for calling you wrong, shadow does not sound like his sonic x counterpart if you actually listen to him. Ryan did send that email saying they did get fired but not completely everyone. But then again nobody actually knows until they have an actual list of voice actors, but those movies have actual sound bytes from the voice actors.

You know, i kind of like some of the voices and i know mike pullok had to replace the original. But what really concerns me is WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO RYAN AND WILLIAM? Call me crazy but i think william corkery was the best tails voice, and Ryan is THE BEST (period!). He better have metal sonic in later games. Why'd they fire david though, he is the perfect shadow voice, and you CAN'T replace the main character! I'm horibly shoked that they replaced rouge, good god the sonic x version sounds terible. and also rant rant rant rant... well i got nothin' else.

yes i liked some of the sonic x voices as well, especially mike pollock, nnobody should really be complaining about him because deem bristow the original eggman voice passed away.

and yes i think the sonic x rouge was terrible, it doesnt even fit rouges character

Just for the record, I don't dislike the Sonic X voices (apart from Rouge's, which is terrible), I just think that a few of them are inferior. Mike Pollock does a great job as Dr Eggman/Robotnik, as does Amy Palant as Tails.

Lisa Ortiz does actually make a good voice for Amy Rose, but I still preferred it when Jenny Douillard was doing this role. I feel really sorry for Jenny as she's now out of a job.

Also, does anyone know where I can see a pic of David? I googled all different searches but can't find him anywhere. Thanks.

If you don't want to take my word for it, checkthe last two shortcuts here:

Those would be the GCN and PS2 ShtH manuals, respectively. Scroll down to the credits on the fourth-last page, and you'll see that not only are David Humphrey and Ryan Drummond absent from the cast list, but that Jason Griffith is the first actor on the list, which indicates top billing, which means he's the main actor, which means he's voicing the main character, who is in fact Shadow.

Because it's the truth; I find the truth is generally preferable than nontruth. Where I found it: someone posted the same link somewhere, I don't remember exactly. And as for him being an exact match, I'm not sure; he sounds pretty good, but I felt the original had a faint British drawl to it and was a little softer, while the new voice is clearly American and sharp-edged.

I think that they had to take all the voice actors because they needed an eggman. Then 4kids said they would lend them mike pollok, but only if they took all of them. That means people will know about them, which means more veiwers, which means more money. But it sounds like they had all this planned *cough cough* doused Deem's drink *ahem*.

The sonic x voice actors are more trained.

This game required the voice to capture real strong emotion, the sonic adventure 2 battle and heroes voice actors were not able to capture these voices to fit the emotions.

The bottom line is, these voice actors are more trained then the others.

But no one can ever replace the sonic adventure 2 eggman voice, it was just perfect.

I agree about the voice who played Rouge The Bat. The voice actress, Kathleen Delaney from 4 Kids Entertainment, does make her voice sounds like Rouge's voice from the late-20s through the mid-40s and I would prefer the previous actress, Lani Minella, who kind of better off playing as Rouge instead.

I also wanted back the same voice actor, Ryan Drummond, who originally did the voice work of Sonic The Hedgehog from the previous games: Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Battle

I didnt even know the SA2 & SH voice for Shadow got replaced. I did notice some differences in the voice, but Shadow has more speech in his game and i thought thats what it was (actually hear him talk more.) I only played this for an hour lastnight, and i heard Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy speak, and WOW i wasnt happy.
Sonic- In this game, he sounds a little like Jaleel White, who was the (good choice btw) voice actor for the older Sonic cartoons (i think the one with Sally, and the other one... (the title ecsapes me at the moment.) But the new Voice actor is no Ryan Drummond, and will never live up to Drummond.
Tails- Um... yeah. ok. really bad.. next.
Knuckles- believe it or not, Drummond was the voice for Sonic and Knuckles in Sonic Shuffle. I couldnt tell the difference from Knuckles in SA1 and 2. Now in this game, he loses the "toughness" to his voice...
Amy- Her voice is just plain bad. what would have been cool is if Amy got another makeover... or atleast new clothes. that would have made it better at least for me.
Eggman- No one person on this entire Earth will ever top Deem Bristow.

with that being said, Like it or not, we cant go back in time to change the game, so have a good time , and play the game. I mean, it IS a Sega/Sonic Team game.

I cant believe they've done this. Shadow's voice used to be awesome, I've not heard the replacement but I'd rather stick with the original.
Rouge was awful in Sonic X, awful. Her old game voice was good though. Same with Knuckles, I couldn't stand his voice in Sonic X, it was way too gravelly.

Really? Worst film you ever saw? Well, my next one will be better. Hello? Hello?

why bother ranting about shadows voice? sure its a different person but it almost sounds like his old VA so theres no point in that

also if you dont like the voice acting just mute the tv, its not like somebody is forcing you to listen to them
one of my only real problem with shadow is that he says damn waaay too often

You know, now that you think about it, the old shadow sounded a little like the old knuckles.
Now Knuckles sounds like Yami Yugi (because he is) and shadow sounds a little older and shadowy-er. I think the overusing of "damn" helps.

Here's my opinion:

The old Lani Minella's Voice crew (Sonic Adventure-Sonic Heroes)

Sonic- Ryan Drummonds voice for Sonic started out really great. Ryan only with flaw with Sonic is that Ryan wasn't really that much of a GOOD actor. In SA The voice was great but the acting was abysmal. In Sonic Shuffle he started to get better with the acting. In SA2 Ryan made Sonic's voice more high pitched but his acting was better. 8/10

Tails- In SA1 Tails' voice sounded like Bradley Pierce's (AoSTH) Tails but the same thing with Ryan's version of Sonic in SA1 the acting was BAD. His voice did improve in SA2. They changed the actor for Sonic Heroes but that guy just sucks. 6/10

Knuckles- In SA1 a comedian did his voice, he suprised me and alot of Sonic fans because he had a smooth and relaxed deep voice, very unexpected for the "Quick to Anger" Echinda we all used to know. In SA1 the comedian knew how to act and he made Knuckles sound more like a "guardian". In SA2 they changed the actor and replaced him with some singer, his voice was deeper than the SA1 version of Knux, but the acting wasn't really top-notch. He only became worse in Sonic Horoes. 7/10

Amy- I never was a fan of Amy's voice in SA1 or SA2. She did a great job in Sonic Heroes though. 5/10

Dr. Robotnik/Eggman- The best Robotnik since Jim Cummings. A brillant actor and the voice fits the serious side of Robotnik. R.I.P. Deem Bristow 10/10

Shadow- In my very honest opinion I found Shadow's voice extreamly BORING in SA2. I not really fond of David's attempts to make Shadow sound great. He did do better in Sonic Horoes. 6/10

Rouge- Despite the fact that Rouge's voice was out of character Lani did a very great job as Rouge. 7/10

Espio- I dunno who he was but did a really great job both with the acting and the voice. 10/10

Vector- Very Very unexpeting voice, I wanted Vecter to sound more "Hip-Hop" instead he disappointed us all by sounding "Pissed off New Yorker"

The 4Kids Crew
Sonic- Jason Griffith does a really good job with Sonic. His voice really reminds me of Jaleel White's Sonic which solemly bring a smile to my face. The only flaw is he sounds too childish when he's happy, but he sounds really cool when he's angry and when he's about to fight. 8/10

Tails- The voice is kinda high-pitched but the acting is very good. 7/10

Knuckles- Very very wierd. In Sonic X Dan Green made Knuckles sound like Yami Yugi, but in Shadow the Hedgehog Dan totally changed up. I kinda like his voice. It's kinda wierd but this is how I really expected Knuckles to sound like this. 9/10

Amy- I LOVE Tara Strong her voice in so SEXY! I still can't beleive she's Amy's official voice! 10/10

Dr. Robotnik/Eggman- Mike Pollock does a flawless job as Eggman. He does an excellent job with Eggman's "Humorous" side, and suprisingly he does good at Eggman when he's Angry too. 9/10

Shadow- When Jason did Shadow's voice in Sonic X he made him sound.....well very bad. In Shadow the Hedgehog......well lets just say this is Shadow at his best! 8/10

Rouge- no comment 6/10

Espio- Very good but quiet. Really needs to work on diction in the voice. 7/10

Vector- OK I expected Vector to sound 'Hood but instead he sounded like a New Yorker in SH and Now he sounds like Mr. Pee Wee

*blink* I disagree. Muchly.

I think most of the Sonic X cast did an awful acting job... And I don't know about most of you, but when I heard Jason's Shadow voice I could instantly tell it wasn't David. And Jason really didn't do well on the acting. It was the quality of voice actors you'll find on Newgrounds Sonic movies, I think.

I didn't mind Jason's Sonic; he actually sounded a little like Ryan, but personally I don't think the guy can act. Like in the parts where there was drama... Just no. (The person who did Rouge's voice was the worst, though. Not only did she not sound like Rouge in the least, but she couldn't act at all.)

The only thing I did like Mike Pollock and Espio's voice. They were the best out of them all.

But credit where it's due, I probably wouldn't've minded the actors as much if the script was at least a LITTLE decent! >.>

i thought it was lisa ortiz and i dont think tara strong works for 4kids either

jason griffiths sonic x shadow voice sounded nothing like his StH shadow voice
in sonic x when shadow says chaos control it sounds almost like sonic which isnt a good thing
but he has improved in the game

Maybe u could all just try and enjoy the game without worrying without the voice acting, besides I like the idea of using the Sonic X voice actors because more people will be familiar with them from the 4kids shows,(if any of u live in Canada Sonic X is one YTV and most of the stuff that was cut out is still there, and when is FOX gonna change 4kids into something better,just the name I mean...it sounds so tacky...) Just think of it as there never was any original voice actors, because there was different kinds of Sonic TV shows with different voice actors.

No question there. The voice that I hated the most from the old cast was that of Knuckles. His first actor literally gave no e,option whatsoever, and his replacement sounded like a stoner. His follow up actor sounded more like what I expected.

His first actor sounded painfully uninterested and his replacement sounded like a stoner.
Knuckles didn't sound tough in the Adventure games or Heroes. The toughness is more apparent with his 4kids voice.
Enough of the Ryan Drummond worship.
I can tolerate Tails' 4kids voice.
Deem Bristow is dead, and he made Eggman someone he's not. He was established as an intelligent and humerous villian who can get caught off guard, NOT AN EVIL OVERLORD!

Yeah, they've made Vector out to look like an idiot, which he never was in the old Chaotix days...

And why is Espio the leader of Chaotix now?! And where is Mighty?!

Anyway, asides from Vector I have no problems with the voice acting in this game. They all sound great (Charmy is meant to be annoying as *beep* otherwise and Robotnik is just great.

Bill Corkery did Espio's voice in heroes, and did a very good job I think.
Marc Biagi did Vector's voice, but his comedy acting didn't really seem to suit Vector, who is now stuck with this representing. :(

Arg I duno why but I hate Shadows new voice.In the anime it didn't sound that bad but in the game duno hate hate hate.Mute it defo cause duno just hate it so much espicallly when he says Maria sounds so fake.Rest are ok but Shadows awwww David voice suited the character more in my opioion

I agree. When I bought the game, I went to my friend's house to play it with him. I let him play story mode, but at first I really didn't notice the change in Shadow's voice. It was when I got home and played and listened that I noticed it. I was like wondering if it was just in my mind. Maybe, David lower his voice because the dialogue was so much and his voice wasn't as deep as it was in "Sonic Heroes" or "Sonic Adventure 2".The only thing that annoys me is Shadow's voice a bit,Knuckles's voice, and Rouge's voice in "Shadow the Hedgehog".

Down actually. Sonic Rush flopped and Shadow isn't selling anywhere close to what Sonic Heroes sold. Good news. :)

Yeah they did go down in sales, and I think Sonic Riders will probably fail as well.
What I find funny is that they kept David's voice for two things, when he shouts out Chaos Blast and Chaos Control. Those two clips were done by the original voice actor, and even though Sonic Team wants Sonic X's voice actors they keep two clips. But I think the reason why is becaus if Jason Griffith did those two voice samples he would sound too much like Sonic and not Shadow. In the show Sonic X whenever Shadow shouts out Chaos Control it sounds exactly like Sonic's voice. So I thought it was kind of funny. Still Sega/Sonic Team needs to bring back the original Voice actors. I'm still holding on to hope that Next Gen Sonic for the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be the return of Ryan Drummond and the others if they are included.

If they do return them and somehow get Geoffrey Rush, what's the next story for the next game gonna be?
Next-Gen Sonic is just a remake of the original in realtime and 3D.

Maybe return Tikal, and Chaos where they encounter more recent characters, like Shadow, or the Chaotix. I always had this wierd feeling if Tikal met Shadow she'd develop a crush on him.

First off from the news of next gen Sonic, its only going to be Robotnik and Sonic. Nobody else. Next it isn't a remake of Sonic 1. Super Sonic wasn't included in the first one as there was only 6 Chaos Emeralds.

As for the Shadow/Tikal couple, alot of people feel the same way.

I never knew about that voice sample thing. Where'd you find this out as it sounds interesting? To me, that sounds like it could've meant that David Humphrey actually did do all the voices for Shadow, then had them scrapped later on.

I think David did record some stuff, because Ryan called in and asked when he could come and start recording. Well thats when they said were gonna be using 4Kids. Stupid, Stupid 4 Kids.
I'm still looking into anything on a return of the original voice cast, but not much luck yet. Especially with Sonic Riders that now is out, still i was right, their sales for that game isn't doing to well at all.
Also another thing i've realized is that after the switch to 4Kids the Sonic games have been getting more advertising. Back a few months at least once a day I would see a commercial for Shadow the Hedgehog, now everyday i see one for Sonic Riders. I wonder if thats another reason Sonic Team wanted to work with 4kids, to get better advertising.
