Underlying beauty

This film has an underlying beauty. It may be gritty and low budget, but the poetry that Lucky brought to this film is amazing. I think the people on here who are talking trash should stick to Michael Bay films and other movies with no real substance. Roman is a work of art.
Death is sad and scary to some, but to others it is natural and beautiful.

I agree with you man. I got a copy of Roman and finally got around to watching it the other night - and I love it. It's definitely not perfect though, and I would say without a doubt May is the better film of the two. But what I appreciate about Roman is it's gritty, morbid realism. It's a beautiful, tragic story - and when I watch it I feel voyeuristic - like I'm spying on this tortured man living his day-to-day existence. The fact that it's able to envoke that kind of feeling makes it a good film.

Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.

^Well, we all have different tastes. Like I said, this movie isn't perfect - it drags on quite a bit - but I think it's a great "lonely man" story.

I found this film to be quite compelling and poignant in its stark and gritty portrait of everyday madness and despair. I liked it a whole lot and thought it was a worthy companion piece to "May."

whenever people say this movie sucks. they want someone to explain why it sucks.
can you explain why it was a work of art? because I dont get it. it was boring and pointless..but it was kind of intriguing ill admit... it made me watch it to the end to know where is this trash going

Eva's death became a work of art. Somehow I saw that ending coming. By the time it ended I was fully expecting her to commit suicide.
