pretty poor ( some spoilers)

Poor script. I knew It was going to be bad when in one of the first scenes Brendan Fraser explains to his dad's wife "the plan". Don't you remember the plan I made - well it's gone wrong. She was acting like, right, the plan, as if it was a phone call she forgot to return. I'm sorry but your about to move away, live a better life and double corss your husband in the process and you "forget". What a dumb way to fill in the blanks. Lazy writting is all that is. Reminds me of the scene with Rob Lowe and "Thank You For Smoking" where he talks about smoking in space and how they can explain it with a simple line in the script.

In fact there was so much 'bad talk' where characters filled in the blanks for you. The story didn't developed but was laid out more like a bad video game. Too much stupid stuff and the more I think about it the dumber it gets. Like the guy on the motorcycle, what happens to him. Was he shot, arrested??
How did the drag queen know where to find him and who didn't see that coming back to haunt him? And the one guy who shot the dog and brought the old man to the club. Where was he during the shoot out, and who didn't see Scott Glen wasting him. And Mo himself, why would someone deliver drugs, steal a bike, get a girl killed. Why would someone like that pretend to have scruple's and not just take the money and run.

I could go on trying to figure out why it was so bad, but that would be like trying to identify what someone ate but the smell of their gas. It's pointless and I have better things to do then sniff peoples farts.

Could we really even call what Wemba did at the end "scruples"?? I don't know if standing up to someone who is robbing you, at gun point, with no particular plan, scruples.

Nobody on here has mentioned this, but why did the drag queen shoot the dad?! That is what's bothered me most about this movie. Ok, shoot the guy who cut your face, that's fine, why not? But "Hey, there's this OTHER guy in this room with him. I shoot him too!" No reason.

Poor premise based on outlandish "exp-patriot" Americans who somehow find themselves living the seedy life in Sao Paolo. I was halfway expecting to see Vin Diesel show up in a hot-rod to help courier some of the cocaine for Scott Glenn. If I wanted to see a movie to appreciate the desolation of Sao Paolo's "darker side" I would have preferred a Brazilian cast (they do have a large pool of professional actors you know). I felt like this movie was insulting my intelligence by casting actors who really didn't have time or couldn't create any chemistry between one another. The bad writing didn't help either and it ruined any notion that the father and son were former Americans.
