Worst movie I've seen in YEARS.

I just want to say, this movie is a pile of crap. It's the most disjointed, poorly acted thing I've seen in years. If a high schooler made this film for a school project I'd give it a C- and barely pass the kid. This is a trainwreck on film, but not nearly as interesting.

Rated 2/10. It only gained a point because I like Mos Def.

I agree, it was a veritable bad acting extravaganza! Mos Def was the only reason that I didn't hit the eject button halfway through.

reply

agree. its not even worth pointing out the good acting from mos def because it might seem like there was something worthy in this movie. no offense, he did a good job but the movie is truelly bad.

reply

A complete mess. Very very disappointing.

Have you ever seen REAL bad movies? You think this acting/writing is weak? You've seen nothing pal :D Seriously. At worst, this is an average movie.

agree, how can u call this a bad movie after i've seen date movie or failure to launch. This is an average movie with good acting

the ending was a complete let down... but the acting was superb, Brendan Fraser who plays the son who's mentally unstable, the always excellent Scott Glenn, hardened by life and still a man that commands respect, and of course, Mos Def the migrant from Africa (try catch the accent) are all to be complimented... I was hooked by the dark side of this movie (and the sex...)

The ending was OK... but *beep* when Scorsese took the route for the ending that this movie did, everyone jumped outta their seats and yelled "MODERN CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!"

reply

No it wasn't Hitchcock but the story pulled me along. The music supported w/o overwhelming.. The 2 "Brazilian" girls are sure nice to look at and I always like to see a country I have no images of, even if it's urban grit. (Sao Paulo is Gigantic!) Scott Glenn always has that amazing face, Brenden was interesting and MosDef was where ones heart should be. I didn't recognize him as American so I guess that says he was doing a good job.

I really didn't care for it either but the sound track was extremely compelling. Was a great opportunity for Brendan Frazier and Scott Glenn to chew the scenery, and Mos Def was excellent. The ladies really didn't have to do anything but look good which they did.

The whole point of the film **spoiler alert**

The cocaine and brothel business is sleazy, dangerous and deadly, and a child had a chance to get away while everyone else self destructed, which is a lot like real life.

I probably would not watch it again. Too many loud car chases and gunshots for my taste.

I made it through the first 5 minutes. I'd rather watch "69 Ways to Pour Pancake Syrup" by Captain Funbucket than sit through this movie.
