I think it was the intro to a rap song if I'm not mistaken. You're talking about at the beginning right? Fairly certain it leads into a rap.

It didn't fit the film too well. I don't think the music was "stupid" though.

Wonder what Spike Lee had to say about it.

Rap would have been too predictable IMO.
