Dog Day Afternoon, 30 Years Later

Last month, Warner Brothers released a special 2-Disc DVD on 'Dog Day Afternoon'. Watch for it, as it includes some long awaited features, including a commentary by director Sidney Lumet (a good start), a vintage featurette on Lumet, the Film Maker (nice), and (most notably) an hour long "Making of Dog Day Afternoon" with these four segments: "The Story, Casting the Controversy, Recreating the Facts, and After the Filming". And it also features Al Pacino!

If 'Based on a True Story' ever comes out on DVD, it would make a most excellent compliment to the bonus footage on this new WB release. I highly recommend 'Based on a True Story', giving it 8/10, just shy of the 9/10 I would give to 'Tintin et Moi'.
