Romola Garai

Romola Garai is to die for!

Interesting fact: Patricia Heaton (of Everybody Loves Raymond) is a producer of Amazing Grace.

I saw Romola Garai in Daniel Deronda and she is beautiful! She's also a wonderful actress.

reply

She looks exceptional good in period costumes, I have noticed.

reply

I think she looks exceptionally good in period costumes because she has the old/classic look about her - big eyes, full lips, fair, soft and feminine. I think it's beautiful.

She has two other 'A' films coming out this year called Angel and Atonement (with james mcavoy) if you like her you should visit

She wonderful, exceptional and yes she really suits period costume!

reply

She was GORGE in this. It was the hair, if I do say so myself. A divine warm russet hue.

I think she's great too! I loved her both in "Daniel Deronda" (very glam)and "Vanity Fair" (more low-key). She's a natural English beauty (tall, rosy cheeks) and a wide range in acting- ladies like this are rare to see in most movies these days!

She is an incredible actress. I can't wait to see what she does in the future.

Note about "I Capture the Castle" (another fantastic film): She looks beautiful in the special features on the DVD (I own it) so I assume they altered her appearance for the film to make her look more ordinary, because she certainly isn't ordinary-looking at all.

Props to Romola for another great performance!

Yes, I will echo the definite recommendation to watch Daniel Deronda. She is exquisite in it.

She impressed me so much by her performance in Daniel Deronda. Remarkable that at her age she seems capable of carrying an entire film.

It's only hubris if I fail

reply

Yes, she was only 20, and she really did seem to be the star, the magnetic center, of Daniel Deronda (which was a quite serious and philosphically deep film)!

I read her IMDB bio just now -- it's pretty interesting. For instance, she never set out to be an actress at all, but has resolutely pursued a degree in English instead.

I totally agree with what you wrote. Miss Garai was so good in "Daniel Deronda" and also in other movies ("Amazing Grace" included). This girl is an asset for British & international cinema. I wish her all the best.

Romola is without doubt one of the most beautiful and fair women I've ever seen :) She's a great actress and looks divine in period movies. Is Amazing Grace she was just wonderful but I loved also in vanity fair

And what about the dance contest scene in "Dirty dancing2"? That was a little film, but Romola was bright.

reply

I saw Dirty Dancing two, but as I'm more of a period movies those where my favorite, but yes, she's also good in dirty dancing 2 ;)

Wow...I also was impressed, not only by her beauty, but by the delicacy of her performance.

I had no idea who she was before seeing this movie. Now I must go watch some of her other credits.

reply

She is a wonderful actress. I first saw her in "Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights" and then in "Mary Bryant". She was fantastic in "Mary Bryant".

I saw that. I wondered if it was the same Patricia Heaton from ELR. It does show up on her IMDB page, so I guess it was her. That's pretty neat.

well... I guess I shouldn't post this because I am absolutely in the minority, but I will just in case someone else feels the same way...

I think she is very average looking and her acting bothered me sooooooooo much in this movie...

I am shocked i am the only one who feels this way...

Seriously?? I thought she was wonderful in this film, she had a small part but she played it to perfection. IMO she's everything that's lovely :)

I'd never seen her before this film. She could carry off that "period" look today. What a beauty.

A + on the look, body, and costume.

reply

Poor thing...in Atonment you have to look pretty close to realise it is her...

reply

I thought she was pretty impressive in Mary Bryant (although the movie was a bit ho hum) but in this she was a knock-out.

reply

I think this is my first experiencing of her talent and I absolutely adored both her and her performance, though it is hard in a biopic to separate the performer from who they're portraying. Perhaps I just loved her real-life counterpart. I'd love to see more of her work though.

reply

She's a beautiful woman. I'm glad to see how many here know DANIEL DERONDA, as it's a big favorite of mine.

reply

I'll have to give that film a try! =)
