goes to show what celebrity hoopla does for a name!!

I guess they figure the kid will always be different/stand out because of who they are. Why not give them a "cool" name. Also, some of these stars are eccentric to begin with...so if they are eccentric in their lives...thats odviously going to carry over when naming their offspring, which is essentially their lives.

Just my small interpretation....

reply

I've seen worse. Some kids just have initials or even one letter, and some of those initials have numbers on their names (J5, C10). LOL. (Not celebrities, just normal people.)

This is gonna sound strange, but is Jamal seeing a speech coach or something? -Crash.

I agree, I don't know what the hell is up with it. I mean its one thing to give a kid a unique name, or a name that isn't often heard, but to come up with names like those you listed is just silly. Celebrity children aren't immune to the teasing they will get over their names! I heard that Gwyneth Paltrow is supposed to be expecting a boy and they are thinking of naming it Capone, like Al Capone. Special isn't it.

reply

Capone?? Really??

I believe they said Alabama was a characters name in a book they like is that what you meant by connection? Okay I hope this isn't common knowledge but Alabama's middle name is Luella is that pronounced Lola?

How many did you love before me?
None.
And after me?
None.

reply

yea that's what i meant...Thanx!!!

it wasn't a book. alabama came from patricia arquettes character in true romance who was a prostitute lol.

reply

Alabama was the name of Patricia Arquette's character in True Romance (with Christian Slater). They loved the character and wanted to name the baby after her. Interesting though since her character is a murdering prostitute. But, whatever works!

I think "Ashley Simpson" sounds pretty stupid.

But only when she talks and sings.

The only one that I actually think is cute is Seven. The rest are just ridiculous. Especially Pilot Inspektor. I mean WTF?!?!?! Poor kid's gonna be made fun of for life with that name. I would never do that to my kid.

reply

The guy who plays Earl in "My Name Is Earl" is the one who named his kid Pilot Inspektor. He is so freaking hilarious so i guess it would make sense that he gave his child an off the wall name.

but for Seven i wonder if they got that from that episode in "Seinfeld" where George said he wanted to name his child Seven. and then the whole epsiode was about that name because someone he knew had a baby and named it Seven when they heard himn talking about the name.

I once heard Snoop Dogg has a kid called Spanky, but I'm not sure if that was his nickname or his real name....

I think it's horrible what people are naming their kids. Alabama is cute, people use state names all the time. Original names are good, for example mine is Chessie, that's really uncommon(trust me) but it's not off-the wall.
