This movie has grown on me.

I'm not sure how I developed an affection for this movie because I was beyond disappointed when I first saw it. The original has such an awesome creepy vibe all the way through it that did not get brought to life in this campy movie. However, somehow I've gotten past that and can enjoy this movie for what it is. Really and honestly it just seems as if Black Christmas '74 and Black Christmas '06 are two different movies with similar set-ups. Though some could argue that there was plenty of comedy in the original (and there is) and the remake is only doing more of it, the lack of seriousness and creepiness to the horror element really bothered me. (In other words, I went in expecting the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and got Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.)

Damn! I just realized this movie is ten years old . . . That's actually really scary by itself. Anyway, I've mellowed knowing that this is not scary, but a fun, ridiculously gory romp of horror through Christmas lights and human jerky cookies washed down with whole milk.

It was a great film. Billy is scary, the characters were all different and had a certain charmed to them.

Ya the original was very dark and creepy as *beep*. This one was more on the gore side but enjoyable. A lot more fast paced but lacked a little on build like the original. Im kinda obssesed with it lol there were some cool death scenes

Agreed. I think people expected too much because the original became so iconic. This was always meant to be a fun and creepy holiday themed slasher, and in those terms it's successful (the gore is well done and plentiful, the family relationship is icky, the girls are easy on the eyes, etc)

Yeah I agree it's silly, id never argue against that. But that doesn't mean it's any less fun to watch or that we should judge any more harshly. I could name a dozen remakes that are worse honestly.

It has for me as well.
I am a big fan of the original, and when I first saw this one I admit I was a little disappointed. Now, however, I watch this just as much as the original. I put them as 2 entirely different movies. The first is more gothic suspense, and this one is more deranged. I LOVE the shots in the climax in the attic, and in the insides of the walls of the house, and some of the camerawork is fantastic (the zoom through the branches of the tree to see Billy's eye staring is an example).

Kate Cassidy is one of my favorite finale girls. I found the kills to be different from other horror films and brutal. Great atmosphere
