subtitles

has anyone seen this film with subtitles in a different language? do they just add normal subtitles at the bottom of the film or are they incoporated into the film in the way that the text words in the film in Spanish are?

reply

Yes - the subtitles are added in the black strip at the bottom of the screen image. It detracts a small amount from the impact of the Spanish titles in the movie, because you lose some of the clever visual play of the interaction of the content of the titles with their form. But other language viewers do still get a sense of what the Spanish titles are doing with a little work. Anyone who hasn't seen the film won't have a clue what I'm talking about I guess - it's a fabulous film visually and also very engaging. Though I wasn't sure if the ending was totally successful. Any views?

We just watched it at the Chicago Film Fest and they pushed the frame slightly higher so they could fit English subtitles at the bottom. There was a credit at the end for the English subtitles, but I'm afraid I don't remember who.

added subtitles in the bottom.but they tried to make it like the original text.if it was written in capitals in Spanish then the English was also in capitals.
