Funky glasses

I noticed that she had at least two different kinds of glasses in that 50's blue cateye style. It was hard to know what era this was suppose to be, with cell phones and 1980's computers and TV's.

I actually got the impression that the movie took place in present time. Lila was the only one in the film with a dated wardrobe -- I think that was just her personal style. I didn't notice the computers, but as for the TVs I figured it was just a small town, and neither Annie nor Glenn had much money. Arthur's clothes and haircut seemed pretty current.

Well, the book (which is excellent, I just finished it today) was set in the 1970's, the movie however is a amalgamation of time periods, the glasses, the clothes in places show a 1970's look while in other parts it is obviously modern, I think it was left that way on purpose. Also notice Arthur uses a record player in his room when he listens to music, do not know many kids that do that anymore.

When I was in high school my grandmother passed away, and I was given her record player. I didn't have alot of money, so I would buy old albums at a local shop for 25 cents a piece. This was around 2001, so it's not entirely impossible. also since then I have noticed more and more kids are listening to vinyl because it's "hip".

Well, elliptical exercise machines weren't on the market until 1995, I think. The one that Griffin Dunne is using at the very end of the movie is one of the latest models out there, now. Also, I think that I remember someone, maybe the child, was watching an LCD high def TV.
