'I forgot to wrap it'
What does this sentence mean? When he's in the car, he says "I forgot to wrap it", then lets the dog out.
What did he forget to wrap?

"I forgot the rabbit". He wanted to die with the stuffed animal he had bought for his daughter. He had forgotten it earlier in the movie when he wanted to give it to her present. And now as he was about to die, he realized once again that he had forgotten it in the house.
