Jason Horton is coolest person I know.....That's a fact...Thanks for being you.

I grabbed this poor excuse for a film off the Newsgroups, if it were good I would have bought it, unfortunately I'd pay NOT to watch it again. What a pretentious pile of stinking claptrap this is.

your a poor excuse for a human being. If the day ever comes that you make a movie or better yet attempt to make something that resembles a movie or do anything creative let me know so I can call it a pretentious piece of crap. Oh and if you ever do anything with your waste of life I will congratulate you on your accomplishments because as of now you have done nothing. I wonder when it was that you thought you were anything but a scared little child who thinks he can judge other people simply because you have done nothing with your life. See you later I'm done with you for now boy.

reply

You've got a serious problem mate. You don't even know me yet you've painted some 'la la land picture' of me in your immature little mind. Your response was laughable, and it still doesn't change the fact that this film is a putrid pile of pretentious crap!

A bunch of folk running around what looks like school corridoors, with a few Particle illusion effects thrown on, add to that some VERY bad acting, this does NOT make for good film making. The plot, if you can even call it that, was totally laughable!

Although I really disliked this film, I'd still be curious to know the amount of money wasted on it.

I'm a sculptor by the way Mr Christian Rectum (Childish I know, but simple and effective :-P) and a successful one at that! So you can fix that fantasy world image of me you have fixed in your infantile mind now, BOY!!

reply

You guys are both a couple of dorks.
Successful adults (which you guys claim to be) don't sit around and post disparaging comments about one another. Only losers do that. I should know, we can smell our own.

A confidant, successful individual would not feel the need to respond to any of these comments, and would definitely not resort to name-calling.
I suggest we all try and grow up.

By the way, I personally thought the movie was ok for a micro-budget feature, but I can definitely see how someone could see it as sucking.

reply

lol :-D

Your right of course! But I was in a bored and somewhat silly mood :-p

reply

no really this movie really was terrible... i mean im not gonna be all childish and stuff.. but honestly... its terrible..

Some advice for movies that HAVE to be made on a low budget...

No special effects, cause if they aint good, they suck... lol

You HAVE to have a good story line, that will assist people in forgeting the fact thats its all hollywood, and it will keep them in, kinda like a good book.

STAY AWAY from zombie, alien, crazy nuclear wars, small boring enviornments... if you know what im talking about..

And lastly, Dont put the camera in positions where you see EVERYBODY standing from a distance arguing, talking, figuring something out or whatever, get up and close, dont pull so far away from the characters...

Well I hope that my opinion wont get slaughtered by some immature forum "master" who cant take the time to see im being totatly constructive... late

I saw it in a little store in Paris.

reply

I rented it on netflix. I've also seen it on blockbuster.com.

reply

You can buy a copy of this film if you go to Amazon.com.

This movie is a turd.

Shadows of the Dead is a much better micro budget zombie flick.

You got your pint, you got your pig snacks, what more do you want?

ROFL!!!!!!!!

You got your pint, you got your pig snacks, what more do you want?

reply

Wow.. That was so clever. Your a genius.

reply

Wow, nice comeback, you should be in movies with comebacks like that!

Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Thought I should clarify since your not to bright.

reply

or TOO bright either.

reply

For a bunch of cats that hated this movie, you sure spend an awful lot of time posting under it. You're keeping it alive on the message boards. If you truely hate it, let it rot.

I thought it was ok. I've certainly seen worse. It was funny at least.

This movie was so bad it made my left n#t hurt. Ive seen many a b rated movie ...matter a fact I rate the evil dead as one of my favorite movie, Rise of the Undead is no evil dead, it is no dead and breakfast, it is horrible. I thought, while watching this movie that erhaps the director and writter were attempting to be witty.. a-la "the producer" esque.. how bad of a movie we can make, but alas can see from the inital posts from the cast and crew THEY WERE ACTUALLY SERIOUS...

sad

No matter how bad the movie, if it's out and released, there's a group of people out there that worked very hard on it. Some of these people may react harshly to malicious digs. Ie "This movie sucks, sucks sucks," and then respond in a fashion that's less than professional and mature.

Nobody sets out to make a bad movie, well almost nobody. We certainly didn't. We wanted to make something that was good, but didn't take itself too seriously. I assure you the awkward cuts, the overdone screaming, axing and repetitive dialoge are all meant to be funny. We really were thinking of this in a more comedic light than what it's being taken for.

I think one of the major reasons this doesn't always work, is the because some of the other technical problems. IE sound, lighting, some underdone coverage. Because some of the technical aspects are awkwardly bad and not intentionally so, the things that are purposefully awkward and meant to be funny come of has unintentional. Also being our first film we weren't always successful in transitioning the tone from serious to comedic to horrific.

We knew we had little money and time, and attempted to make something bigger than our limitiations. On some levels I think we did, on others we failed. But in the end a group of lower class guys from New Orleans produced a horror movie out of their pockets that has sold internationally.

Despite it's flaws, and there are many, I for one am very proud of the work and stand behind it.

Well said, Jason.

My first thought was, "This movie is crap!" But as an indie filmmaker who makes crap as well I have to look at a few points:

1. This was your first movie. The First movie I ever worked on is utterly unwatchable by many people's standards.

2. This was a feature film. You guys definitely have some seriously "big ones" to just jump right in and start with a feature for your first. It's like losing your virginity to a dominatrix, you come out scared, confused, and a little ashamed, but you want to do it again. (Please don't take that seriously.)

3. You guys are at freakin' BLOCKBUSTER! Right on the shelf! I've worked on and shot lots of movies, none of them are at Blockbuster! (I've shot short films for the most part, so I guess it would help to get off my @ss and shoot a feature.)

So, you guys chose a hellofa way to pop your "film cherry." And, love it or hate it, you did it for the world to see. Bravo!

I'd love to hear how you guys marketed it and got distribution. Hit me up sometime!

Also, feel free to check out my page and see some of the crappy little shorts I've made!

Yes, very sensible move standing 'behind' it Jason, be silly to stand 'by' this stinker mate! On the shelves in Blockbuster does not equal great film either! Just look at the other drivel they rent/sell, quite a lot of it big budget stuff even. 10p or 10 million quid budget, it's still poo :p

reply

Never claimed it was a great film. Didn't even say it was a good film. Just said we tried and for what we had to work with at the time (money and exprience) are proud.

Feel free to spew some venom on my new flick Edges of Darkness. We start shooting in two weeks, but it's posted in pre-production here already. Hopefully it will be better.

reply

I'm sure it will be better! I'm auditioning for you this evening! So thats a step in the right direction :) Anyways, looking forward to meeting you!

reply

Hi,

I have take part in production projects, I can appreciate your film more. I thought the special effects were good (the city burning scenes) for a very low budget film. You may have overdid the colour enhancement thing a bit. I used MB to do that too and sometimes it turns out like video with fake colourings.

Looking forward to seeing to seeing your next production :)

reply

Yeah, I completely agree about the overdone MB. It was a new toy for me at the time. And I certainly didn't know how to use it properly.

I actually replaced MB in my editing with dft 55mm. A really good filter plug in bundle. User friendly and very flexable.

reply

I don't see how it could possible be worse!

Definitely ambitious for what they had to work with, but I kinda found it rather boring and at times irritating.
