Just watched this, and i think i'm getting confused on a really simple detail, but it's preventing me from understanding the end properly!
Does the version of Doug at the very end of the film, who drives away with Claire, know anything about the time travel that has gone on in order for the situation to have occurred?
And then therefore we are left to assume that Doug & Carroll get together in a completely separate way (assuming Carroll doesn't try to tell Doug?)
He has a déjà vu when talking to Claire but he doesn't fully know.
shareDoug 1.0 hasn't met any of them. He hadn't met Claire nor Oerstadt (dead or alive) previously. He is the same person whom he was the morning of Fat Tuesday before the bomb exploded.
In fact, there will probably be no need to meet with the "time travel folks" (Pryzwarra, Denny, Gunnars, Shanti nor McCready) because there were far fewer deaths and the perpetrator was killed. Essentially, that mystery doesn't exist. The follow up on Oerstadt wouldn't justify the expense of using the "time travel folks."
Doug 1.0 will still be sad when he learns his partner was gator bait 😥
