The ambulance....

How could it have been there if Doug hadn't gone back in time yet and saved Claire & stopped the bombing?
Unless there was another Doug who went back and failed after the ambulance crash that would cause the Doug we saw on screen checking the crashed ambulance with the goggles to eventually go back in time and succeed after the ambulance crash at the bait house and save Claire & stop the bombing?
Is there perhaps yet another Doug running around by the end of the movie or killed by the terrorist soon after the ambulance crash?

Captain Janeway said it best... Time Travel, it gives me a headache.

Did not get that part neither. I can't remember correctly but it was like two days before the explosion when Doug saw the ambulance truck with the goggle rig. But in the alternative time route it was only a few hours.

It's hard to understand but time travelling messes up a lot of things.

If you remember as he gets into the chamber and the guy asks if he's sure he wants to do this Doug replies "What if I already did?"

I think the Doug we see in this particular movie is the 3rd Doug...? You have the 1st one who does nothing except his job and goes on with his life. Then you have the 2nd Doug going back and perhaps he was too late but still able to do previous things like the ambulance into the house and get cleaned up at Claire's but they both still end up dying. Now we have the main character Doug....he has already seen what happens so he can go back, copy his actions but more precisely and with confidence and is given a bigger time window at the end to kill the bad guy and get Claire to safety. So even though he dies in the blast, the new Doug will see Claire who will explain everything that happened.

Same reason Harry Potter was able to save himself with the Patronus charm in "Prisoner of Azkaban."

My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.
