Possibility of a sequel

I just re watched it, and noticed that at the end we see Ike getting carried off by one of the eosapiens, but we never actually get to see him destroyed.

Do you think they were leaving the door open for a sequel? Not saying it's going to happen, just wondering if they might have had hopes.
