Ok so if Sengoku translates for Civil War and Jietai for Self-Defence Force, 1549 is obviously the year they go back to, who the *beep* went on with the western translation of "Samurai Commando Mission 1549". Did someone honestly think that people would be more interested about a name that sounds like it is a cheesy American 80's ninja movie?
shareThere's several different English translations for the title. The THAILAND release is called G.I. SAMURAI 1549, apparently some titles go by what the original film is titled in some countries as Time Slip so the new one is TIME SLIP 1549.

At the start the title is subtitled as Warring States Period 1549, which wouldn't mean much for those with little knowledge of Japanese history, so it's little surprise the English title is not a direct translation of the Japanese title.

In spanish the title of this movie is simply "Comando Samurai". Easy to remember and kinda catchy.
lol Any excuse to use the Word Samurai I guess.
