Silent Hill, anyone? =)

Am I the only one to be reminded of Silent Hill (games, movie etc) while watching this movie? The whole thing about a man repressing something horrible he has done, and then this imaginary world starts eating him alive.

Yeah I left the tv and after a while I'm like hey this looks familiar. Better than the sh film probably. Certainly something to pass on to other sh fans, especially considering Naboer is norwayish.

I didn't see Silent Hill, guess I should check it coz I really loved this film.

I can't find anything of this movie comparing to silent hill.
Silent Hill is a supernatural movie, this isn't unreal. He went mad from his isolation. You should watch Polanskis "the tenant" and "repulsion" and you would get my point.

yes you're the only one. And thank god for that because there's simply no reason for any sane person to do so.

One should judge a man mainly from his depravities.Virtues can be faked.Depravities are real.Kinski

Yeah, I had the same recognition of 'Silent Hill' in this.
The guy has condemned himself to a purgatory of his own design... built out of the grief and shame for having killed his ex.
It's not so far off the plot of 'Silent Hill 2'.

No, it's not literally Silent Hill... but there is a room hallway to a place that seems to have an inconsistent reality... that changes between clean and cluttered... that has 'creatures' in it that act as personalized tormentors. Anne and Kim are John's version of Pyramid Head.
Sure, it's all in John's head vs. Silent Hill being a physical place that seems to pull people to it... but the basic themes and structures are more similar than different.

Games: yes
Movie: no

You'll have to forgive many of the respondents who couldn't differentiate and thus missed the point entirely.

Most people here think the OP is talking about the Silent Hill movie... in fact, they mean the games. If you play the games, then you know the psychological horror behind them, the same kind that is in this film. Do not in anyway compare the Silent Hill movie with this, they are nothing alike, the games however, are very much. If you havent played them, do so, or at least read up on them a little... thanks :)

reply

Not as much the games (plural), but rather the second installment of the series. I watched the movie before I played the game, and I was struck by some of the similarities.
