I think that Jon's mind made the neighbours up as he couldn't process his actions. The truth (that he abused Ingrid, killed her and killed Åke) was too hard for him to bear so his mind made up a story to cope with it.
shareHe simply compartmentalised his girlfriends character into 2 women to allow him to deal with what he had done . One girl was sado masochistic and sexually adventurous ,the other mature and responsible .
I dont think he could handle that these characteristics existed in the same woman and in himself , it looks like they pushed each other to the limits frequently and when the woman tired of it and taunted him about his contradictions he flipped out .
