Can someone please explain..

Can someone please explain to me why we make a comical gameshow type program highlighting those people who are complete dangers to public safety?? I mean there is nothing funny about a bunch of idiots who are so horrible at driving that they are likely to kill people. I guess this is what TV has come to in an effort to entertain todays 'simple' audiences.

Ok, first of all, shut up with your condescension. You're no smarter then people who watch the shows you don't like... ass.

But I do agree that this show is pretty wrong. I imagine the contestants are payed to be on, as no one would WANT to be a part of this. That means people are payed for being terrible at driving. That's kind of *beep* up.

Movies on IMDB are not overrated, you're just of the minority that doesn't bloody LIKE THEM!

I don't know whether or not they're being paid for being on the show, but it's not like they're just brought on and then let go after they've given the audience a few laughs. If you watch you actually see improvements in their driving (Except Angelina in the current season, who's so much of an airhead I'm amazed she doesn't forget to breathe...)

If they are being paid, then they're being paid to improve their driving skills. I'd be shocked if people wouldn't want to be on the show. I'm a good driver, but I would want to do some of these challenges simply to improve my driving skills

I don't believe that they are paid, but that they get a "free" holiday out of it. Since they go across Canada I would expect at least 150 - 200 "possible" contenders that are nominated by friends & family. Out of that would be the "finalists" that were able to take a two week holiday in the middle of summer.

Transportation, hotel, food etc would all be provided by the show. Most "BAD" drivers do not see themselves as bad drivers and would look at this as a free holiday. Learn some driving skills and then laugh at all the others that are terrible.

Mike Butt was a perfect example of this. He really did not think that he was doing anything wrong. At the end he cut up his licence because he realised that he has been fooling himself and has a lot to learn.

And I'm sure that every one of the finalists chosen was sure that he or she would NOT end up being the WORST. Lots of people like to be on TV, it's a fun holiday, and only toward the end would the final 3 people realize that they were in danger of coming LAST. So the odds probably look pretty good, and I'm sure plenty of people would feel it was worth some embarrassment to have fun and be on TV.

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

To be fair to Andrew Youngblood, who presents himself as fairly heavily invested, it began with a much more balanced approach, and frequently raised the more serious issues surrounding poor driving habits. That's why I was watching this series. However, as 'Reality TV' evolved, CWD evolved along with it, becoming more comical and outrageous, in order to be more entertaining. While I agree that too much of this program is geared towards 'laffs n' hijinx', it must be allowed that this is a television program, and is hardly the forum in which these issues can be properly adressed, much less solved.

It's still better than versions in other countries. Yes the laughs are played up more and more but in the end they really are helping some people. And I guess warning us about others.

Yea the Canadian show seems to put some actual effort into teaching people how to drive and some of them (usually all but 2 or 3) actually get better and learn some stuff. The other ones I have watched have people actually TRYING to be bad because the one that is the worst gets a new car or something stupid like that.

This is a Canadian reality show. They don't get enough to make it worth it. It is hard to imagine there are people this bad at driving until you remember some of the idiocy you actually SEE on the roads. What is more bothersome is how some of these people EVER got a license. We need to look into that process and make it a bit hard.
