Worst of the worst

Next year will be Season 8 of Canada's Worst Driver. My daughter said that after they pick the winner of that season, they should reassemble all the "winners" of each season (because they always start with 8 drivers) and do Season 9 with them. Then we will know who is TRULY Canada's Worst Driver.

Season 8 ended in a tie, so there will be 9...very scary...

They need to do that but do some serious rehab with them to see if any of them actually can wrap their heads around driving.

reply

Uh.... isn't rehab the entire point of the show? (albeit with a comedic bent)

Well part of the point of the show is some rehab, and SOME of the people actually get something out of it. For example Chris and Shirley (Who lost their respecive seasons) are examples of people this show did a lot of good. (They went on after to work on their skills on their own but they actually got something out of losing they would not have otherwise.) Last year Dianne is probably the best example of someone benefiting from being on the show.

The point I was making that if they were going to take the worst of the worst, we have seen that in the case of the worst 4, 3 of them are actually capable of learning it just takes a lot of effort and a lot of time. I think a show with people that were this bad to start with probably could have done with a serious boot camp to start covering the basics. I get why they like to put people in school buses and get them to drive in a car with water tanks on top and all that but many of the challenges would be really hard for most people. Drivers that started out this bad could have done with a bit more help. There is no way 4-7 weeks where half the challenges are unrealistic is going to be enough to get Kevin, Micheal or Sly to a point where they would be safe drivers (and no amount of anything will help Dale until she kills someone and gets put in jail)...but I see signs this year that it might actually be possible but it would take some hard core rehab.

Ha! They DID decide to do "The Worst of the Worst" for Season 9! The past season "winners" are back to see what, if anything, they've learned.

Well, a few are, plus some of the other bad drivers. And I guess a couple who wanted to show off how much they'd improved.

The only ones with anything to show off were Chris and Shirley (a couple of other ones have gotten better but are still pretty bad) and they were both worst in their years.

Angelina has her issues, she does seem to want to get better. She has to be the one with the most embarrassing moments on the show. I think the fact that she did come back in and of itself was some kind of cry for help. She has to know she looks ridiculous.

Sly, Micheal and Kevin show tiny signs of improvement at times. Micheal in particular got ripped off by Dale leaving. He should not be in the final he has gotten noticeably better. Hopefully the final is a small bit of redemption for him (real world situations not the over the top challenges) the same way it was for Dianne.

Dale scares me. I am glad I do not know anyone that lives in St Catherine. She will kill someone. I hope she goes to jail and her cavalier attitude shown on the show helps put her in jail for a long time, possibly taking her husband with her for covering up how dangerous she is.

I wouldn't actually be that hard on Dale - she seems to be suffering from medical problems about which she is in denial.

In all seriousness, do a google search on her - you'll find a 2010 newspaper article stating that she is a reformed driver thanks to the show...with the reporter riding in the car with her and confirming that she's now cautious and conscientious. And, in the flashbacks, the problems she was having in the previous season are not the same as the one's she's having in this season - this season's problems are very memory based.

So, my wife and I really think that between 2010 and now she's suffered some kind of mental or medical issue, or that one has started emerging (and the worst case of this is something that nobody deserves, quality of driving notwithstanding).
