This season is seriously painful...

I have always wanted a "worst driver ever" show, but this is seriously, seriously painful. And I'm not even talking about the Angelina trainwreck.

Sly and Dale... Are they seriously as stupid as they seem? Neither of them seem to understand the most basic of things...

Honestly I kinda wish this season was just over and they can get some new contestants.

Thoughts/opinions?

I've been wondering for several years how much of this show is genuine or true. Now I'm wondering if any of it is.

This season is making me angry. I have met people like Sly and Micheal and to a lesser extent Kevin. Dale really bothers me. She does actually seem to be totally out of it. The Canadian version doesn't seem to try to encourage people to act stupid (and they tend to work to discourage and embarrass people that are only there for the attention) though it does edit them to emphasize those traits. I think the fact that so many clearly had terrible driving skills to begin with and actually LEARNED stuff from the process suggests that the intent is sincere, and that many of the people are actually that bad.

I do agree it is hard to believe at times.

Sly seems to be trying. Dale angers me. She actually appears to be exactly as clueless as they show, and not even slightly aware of how or why she is dangerous. The fact that her husband just pays for the damage she causes, to me, means that they should BOTH go to jail on the inevitable day she kills someone, along with the jackass that gave her her license.

On the flip side, you have candidates like Shirley who not only graciously accepted being chosen as Canada's Worst Driver in season 7, she actually worked at acquiring proper driving skills as soon as she got back home.

Even better was Shirley telling off her drama queen of a daughter during the rail based "know where your wheels are" challenge. :-)

Yea between her and Dianne they show that this show actually does some people some good. I mean it is unfair to judge people based on whether or not they can parallel park a Concord or some other absurd challenge, but when they get to the real world stuff (and at least one challenge each week is) you can start to see that for some people even the exaggerated challenges help them both learn and gain confidence.

Some people do not gain confidence because, well, there is nothing to be confident of. The show can only do too much.

This year I think Kevin got a bit of a raw deal. My vote still would have been for Dale. Sure, Kevin's test drive was abysmal but Dale is in serious denial and is completely off her rocker. Kevin, in the end, actually showed some signs of learning. He did better on some of the challenges than EITHER of the other two.

He just failed miserably in the road test.

With enough training he probably could be ok. I don't think its fair of them to just tell him to stop driving...don't DRIVE until you can ACE an good driving test (not a lame ass one the governments give).

Dale, by contrast, never seemed to learn a thing.

And in the meantime, stop driving. He was a menace and he refused to see that.

I always thought Madalena from season 1 should have been among the worst ever.
