Or 'Dark blue almost black'. I think that is a better translation :)

Gene Hunt: She's as nervous as a very small nun at a penguin shoot

The title is an analogy referring to Quim's life. His existence was dark and had been so for some time. He had been delt some unfortunate cards in life and was coping as best he could, in a judgemental and class conscious society (as depicted in the job interview and how people looked down on him for being a janitor or for taking 7 years to finish college. His preserverance in the face of hardships is to be admired as well as his loyalty to his family and friends. His life was dark and unfortunate & his future seemed darker for a while. In his janatorial job his uniform was blue however in some of the last scenes when he steals the suit that will make him look more presentable in future interviews the suit is dark blue, how ironic (as the saying goes "Clothes make the man"). This suit represented hope for him, he was not giving up. It was ironic that in Spain employers and society are class conscious judgmental snobs while prison policy was overly liberal, (permitting conjugal visits to criminals and offering acting classes as well).
