Watching on Netflix: Started ok, getting dumber and dumber

I hope this starts to get better. Right now I am up to ep. 5 where the two kids are chasing Nimrod through the grocery store. Pretty lame.
There are some plot points that are right out of Close Encounters. Particularly when the guy becomes "obsessed" with the monster and his house is wall-papered with pictures of it and with pictures of the whirlpool and then he sees a picture of whirlpool that looks just like the whirlpool he drew! And then he abandons his family to solve the mystery. And he meets another woman and the only thing he has in common with her is the monster, just like Roy Neary and Jillian.
But I have to say, the kid with the cute little sea monster is really lame.

The show was a case study in how to run the clock on a show to milk a short story for all it's worth. The show was over long before the went 20,000 leagues. It was over when they started turning every show into famil drama and arguing and then playing 20 seconds of monster at the end of each episode to give you hope that next week, it wouldn't be about a guy fighting with his wife.

I cheered when they ended this show.

You are the reason for all the miseries in this world.

Lame eh, yeah your type is why we have idiotic crap like "The Expanse", "Empire", "Jessica Jones" and "Supergirl". Boring, totally not exciting crap. I'd rather watch paint dry.
