Did they actually accomplish anything with the protesting?

Because 'Stand and Deliver' took place 10-15 years after this movie. That was Garfield HS in East LA, and it look like no improvements were made in how well funded the schools were. They only got A computer towards the end of the movie which was in 82 or so.

we KNOW they accomplished something, because Chicano enrollment in college went from 2% to 25% in the next year following these protests. Chicano kids became inspired by their own potential. The teachers who helped inspire them changed history.
