Excellent film
Caught by mistake on HBO, and was surprised. I dont usually like Edward James Olmos Projects.

I have to agree that I was flipping through channels and decided to watch this movie...mostly based on the fact that I love Michael Pena, the actor who played Sal Castro, especially after finally seeing him in Crash. I LOVED this movie so much and am dying to buy it eventually. I teach in alternative education, mostly hispanic students, and I know how much these students would appreciate this movement in the 60's. I had never heard of it before and was really moved by it!!!
sharefully agree. I love Michael Peña and watched this for him, but this film was more than him. Olmos is a wonderful director! The actors were very stirring and powerful and the story was told in just the right way. It is an important film, but what a pleasure also just to watch it!
I am Jewish, no Chicano descent, and I felt so proud of these people and I feel more proud of having so many Latinos today in the USA from having watched this movie. It also reinforces my belief that Spanish should be the second official language of the United States, as Arabic is in Israel. You should be proud of your culture, stand up for yourselves, and for what you accomplish. Beautiful!
