If you and your partner or a friend were in the room and realized the horror film you were watching had taken place in that same motel what would you do to escape?
I think i would hide under the duvet and cry as i am a massive wimp!
I would try to escape asap, but I would at least wield a lamp or something. After seeing "The Bourne Supremacy" I would at least grab a pen if there was one.

I'd be suspicious after hearing what the bell clerk was watching. If I actually rented a room there and saw the videos, I would GTFO asap. At the very least I'd make them kill me without being able to watch it over and over.

I would have hopped in the car and drop away. I definitely wouldn't have stuck around for too long. I usually plan long road trips with a place to stay at anyways. I definitely would have had a knife or bat to protect me and my wife.
The funny part is that there were 2 things the couple missed. Well, one thing the couple missed and one the writers did.
1)Divide and Conquer. There were 2 of them and 3 bad guys, so just get them to split around (like when they went into the tunnels) and pick them off one by one.
It's even weirder that Amy took 2 of them out at once.
2)And this is the biggest goof in the movie...
If 1 cop is sent for a 911 call and doesn't respond anymore - NO OTHER COPS ARE BEING SENT?!?! WTF?!?!
It makes no sense that for several hours, Amy just slept in her hiding spot with a cop dead and no other cop shows up. They took his car away but what went after that? Biggest loop hole in the movie.
I would have expected them to simply barricade themselves and stall for time until the rest of the cops show up.
It's a bad idea to assume you know how many bad guys were there. They could have a couple of more friends coming from another place. Remember there was a guy who went there to pick up some tapes.

You're right about the 2nd point. How long does it usually take for the police to send another officer to check on their fellow officer? Even in small towns, the sheriff departments usually have more than one officer. I guess they sent the one guy who likes to go "missing" during the job so often that they don't bother to check on him.
Also, when Amy went down from her hiding place, one of the bad guys where there waiting for her as if he knew she was there. Why was he waiting there until morning? If he'd known she was up there, why not take her down while she was sleeping? They disabled the cop's car but didn't bother to mess with the couple's car?
I would probably beg them to let be buy a tape just so I could get the hell out of there alive. I will almost always go the passive submissive route to get out of a sticky situation.

How about making a fire, setting fire to something really flammable like the duvet or curtains and just plain old setting the whole place ablaze.

shareSetting the room on fire would definitely force them to come in the room faster and kill you faster. As they could have and can come in anytime they like. The only reason they waited is because they want to tape the couples being scared at first.
Depending on how fast they can overpower the couples, they might be able to kill the fire before any significant damage to the room occurs.
