This movie should be banned

We are watching an older man forcing himself onto a kid. Would it be OK if a 20 year old start to groom a 6 year old for a future marriage? This movie sickened me to the stomach. The least they could have done is give it an NC-17. No kid should be allowed to watch this mess.

I was expecting to read something crazy when i clicked on the title of your post. You did not disappoint.

reply

Funny, I had so much trouble accepting the plot holes in his time travel abilities that I didn't even have time to think about that. I mean, it is not like he was seducing her or anything.

This person makes a stupid statement - then just disappears! Makes no attempt to counter all the arguements - just gone up his own ****. Best place.

Such a small love. Such a little tear.

I can understand your point but you have ro remember something.

The first time Henry met his wife was in the library. It wasnt till later in his life he met the child version of his wife. Which I think wasnt so bad. He was already inlove with her as a women rather than a child. Arh hard to explain on here.

reply

i think the hurricane has explained it perfectly-when he first meets his wife in the library he hasnt been back in time yet so hes in love with the older version of her

he doesnt seduce her jsut talks to her about his time travel he doesnt even tell the younger version theyre married as shes jealous remember? so all that time he was just being a friend

reply

He was not trying to seduce her, he was only making sure she was not feeling bad while she as waiting for him. This was very clear when she got angry with him when he told her that he got married. He never told her it was her.

It is also not that he could choose where or when to go to her. It just happend. Al he did was talk to her and assure her when he would come back. He explained that when he as going through her diary.

How about banning the Twilight movies too? Isn't that vampire guy over a hundred? What's he doing hitting on high school girls?!

Those should be banned too. Not to mention there is interspecies sex.

Lol you are funny, I'm guessing you have not watched a lot of time travel movies OR read a lot of books in general. While we are at it, let us ban everything we don't understand!

In the book, the teenage Claire tries to seduce Henry numerous times, which he, rightly, fends off.

Does that sicken you less?

In the scenes between the young Claire and adult Henry there was no sexual subtext at all, nothing that could be characterized as 'grooming' so call off the witch burning, alright?

'Grooming' is a term that is applied to child molesters and rapists who create relationships with children in order to manipulate them into accepting sexual advances and behavior, while they are children, not to ensure some adult, future, sexual relationship.

I'm here...without permission

reply

I didnt think anything was wrong. He would have married her and fell in love with her either way he talked to Clare when she was 6 or not. It didnt seemed like he forced her or groom her.

reply

First of all...are you married? Or in a relationship? It would be like your husband/bf going back in time to "meet" you as a child. He wasn't trying to seduce her at all. And would you feel different if it were the woman time traveling back to meet the boy version of her husband? There is nothing inappropriate about this movie. I think a child younger than 12 might not be able to comprehend the movie in the first place. There is no reason for a young child to watch the movie, but there is nothing wrong with it. They just wouldn't understand it, therefore might be misinterpreted.

reply

OP is a moron, a troll or a hybrid trollon...

Nothing inappropriate for all the reasons that everyone has already stated. I recall the one scene where he kisses her (I took her to be in her early 20's at that point, maybe 22) and she says that is the first time he ever kissed her.

Great Movie. In fact, I think i might actually go read the book.

These are my thoughts, they are free, but at least they are my own.

"Great Movie. In fact, I think i might actually go read the book."

If you liked the movie, then I think you'll flip over the book.

I've read the book four times, once after seeing the movie, and I've already deleted a lot of the film from my brain- not even intentionally. It's just that the ideas and the characters felt a lot more powerful in the novel, and for me the film only touched lightly on the best parts of the story.

Definitely read it!

She wasnt 20 or 22, she was 18. Not to mention, he forced himself on her, then seduced her again in a matter of seconds. I dont get why this scene was added. This was a very confusing scene especially when you consider the events leading up to the kiss.

It does seem a tad bit pedo-ish, travelling back in time and telling a little girl about how pretty she will be in the future. That being said, he had no control over his time travelling ability and through-out the movie, Henry came across as a person who was caring. Therefore, lets give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his motive in talking to his kid wife.

Claire wasnt any angel either. She blatantly seduced the young Henry in the car.

Why is it pedo-ish to tell a young girl she will be pretty in the future? I've known lots of Dad's who tell their daughters this. It seems to be self-esteem building if anything, not sexual.

reply

They meet when she is 20. The kiss happens when she is about 16-because she looses her virginity to him on her 18th birthday.
