I'm mystified!?

I watched both August Underground & August Underground's Mordum with a friend, anyways, I thought both films were childish and done purely for shock value, which was wasted on me as I found them both laughable and boring. And without any real plot or characterisation, they could only be viewed on a technical level, such as fx, lighting, camerawork, editing etc.

The reason I am mystified with 'The Redsin Tower' (which I admit, have only seen the trailer for so far) is that it looks extremely good, at least judging by the trailer. It looks great in fact!

So how was the gigantic leap made from childish mess, to fully developed feature film?

Did somebody else jump on board or what?

reply

There was no "leap", as such. The AU series are pseudo-snuff, intentionally of poor video quality (except Penance which is reasonably clear and not digitally degraded), definitely of shock purpose (What were you expecting out of a pseudo-snuff film exactly? Plot? Character development?). And yes, the killers are intentionally childish and amoral, again all part of the intention.

However on the flipside, ToeTag's skillset is definitely growing and they are maturing as a serious horror production company. A more traditional horror film was the natural progression.

I get your point, maybe The AU series were just not my thing.

I've finally seen The Redsin Tower, and I must say, for a low budget film it's very well done indeed. I'm a bit of a fussy bastard when it comes to most films, but The Redsin Tower was entertaining and well put together with some decent performances all round.

If they don't get picked up by some big budget film producers it would be a crying shame. There is so much big budget crap out there, these lot obviously have the talent and the ingenuity to do so much with a limited budget and the constraints that go along with that.

Pretty obscure tastes really. Admittedly I'm easy to please when it comes to this kind of thing, as long as there's enough whore butchery I'm happy.

I haven't seen this yet, in fact I've even forgotten to pre-order it.

I'm not so sure I would be happy seeing ToeTag going too mainstream, afterall the original thing that attracted me to their films was the anti-mainstream\underground attitude and presentation\content etc.

Still, I'd like to see them be successful as they are talented guys for sure.

Sepsism, Redsin's great, but be warned, it's not senseless violence. It sets a very creepy atmosphere, and does not rely solely on violence as Mordum did.

You can't argue with my logic! Well, you can, but I won't listen!

what I never understood about the underground films was (and i'm treating it as real here - that's what you are supposed to do when watching a film)....
we have this perverted killer who likes to kill and rape people while recording it and, he takes the trouble to point the camera AWAY from the sexual organs !?!!

Like what underground films?
