What Camera was used?

Does anyone have any idea on the budget of this movie as well as what camera(s) were used? If this is another minidv $10,000 cheapy then no thanks, I'll pass. I have seen far too many "ambitious" independent direct to DVD flicks that were attrocious lately. A few examples:

Machined
Hoboken hollow
Detour
Barricade
Murder Game
anything from Asylum Pictures
almost anything from Sub Rosa

the list goes on and on. Any more as soon as I see dv footage I turn it off. And no, I'm not a fan of the August undergrounds but they strive to be something different than that other crap that is churned out on a weekly basis

a few of the sole exclusions to this minidv trend is ILS, 28 Days Later and Blair Witch Project

This does NOT look like it was only filmed on approximately 10,000, it looks very good. The camerawork is great, as far as I know, it was NOT just a hand held camera (I very much doubt it was). Redsin Tower looks a lot better than one would expect looking at the budget, trust me.

You can't argue with my logic! Well, you can, but I won't listen!

so does anyone know if this was filmed with 35 MM cameras or possibly even 16 MM? Just curious.

I don't know if I agree at all with you AngryMidget19. I watched it last night and it looked like it was shot with a $3000 cheapy. It may have been the lighting but a load of shots were very poorly done. I thought the camera work was one of the weakest points honestly. The acting was worse though. For the most part I liked the movie and would recommend people checking it out. It left a lot to be desired. However I would like to think that if there were millions of dollars to spend on a proper cast and crew it might have been pretty good.

I agree with Cleantones, while I enjoyed the movie and am glad I bought it, it looked like it was shot on a MiniDV camera. All the dark shots (and being a horror film there were plenty!) looked "MiniDV grainy". Also, if you saw the raw footage (say, in that Special Effects segment on the Special Features portion) that looks MiniDV too.

well, that sucks. The August Underground movies can get away with that but IMO it has to be REALLY good for a miniDV flick to be worth watching like the excellent ILS (Them)or 28 Days Later which was used with the Canon XL1.

It starts off a little slow, but after a while it really gets interesting! I'd deffinately recommend checking it out.

I think they used the Panasonic DVX-100A, it shoots an awesome 24p mode and you can light it to look like film. "Redsin Tower" is very well made and I give the Toetag crew a big thumbs-up for kicking ass and taking names!! Keep up the awesome work guys!
