shareIt's amazing that you had to ask that question if you indeed saw the movie. That guy was sure was a great guy that Jason O'Malley. He didn't have to do all of that stuff, but yet he wanted to be involved in the kids life. That's what a real man is in case you ever needed to see what one looked like. He appreciated the kids last wish didn't turn out to be him but the weekend with the supermodel, and this guy was such a sport with just about everything. Giving him the money, visiting his mom giving her whatever comfort he could. That's what a real sports hero looks like.
I like to think even though it's not mentioned ofcourse that he went on to have a relationship with the kids mom after his death and everything. That's a nice thought, she couldn't have done better.
It is great that O'Malley could have taken offense and felt humiliated, but instead he seemed to take it with a sense of humor and just want what was best for Dylan, and so generous with his money, and to give the time and sympathy to Dylan's mom.
I hope they went on to get married, because there was a reference by the dad to that. He said if a good guy turns up, to accept him. In a way, Dylan was the means of bringing a good guy into her life, when she was losing Dylan.
