Similar films?

Pretty much all I watch is classic cinema, so I was happy to recently discover this movie. I'd like to see more producers/directors try to shoot something "the old way." Only, all I've read about this film is negative reviews, so I'm not certain I want to waste my time.

Are there any other movies of the past 20 or so years that have attempted something similar? I know there's Clooney's "Leatherheads," which despite being in color is an intentional throwback to the screwball comedy genre.

you can check "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"(again, with clooney) .... and "The Man who wasn't there"

I would also include "The Hudsucker Proxy", another Coen Brothers movie.

TRy the Russia House with Sean Connery. NOt so much the shooting but the cinematography.

And old classic that really elicits what this film is going for in terms of cinematography is A Foreign Affair with Dietrich.
