How can 14k be in Death Race 2 if he is killed in Death Race 1?

I don't understand how he can be alive in the second movie if he gets killed in the first one ?

Seriously ?

I took a look and not 20 seconds in was I aware that this was a prequel, the ORIGIN story of the character he took over for in the first film.

There's a number of threads such as this. How can these "Death Race" fans not realise it's a prequel? Sniffing too many fumes?🐭
