Ally Sheedy?

Has anyone mentioned that when Eric Stoltz & Bruce Davidson's characters were looking up the airline roster to find out about Heather, the aged survivor, that her mother's name was Allison Sheedy? Any chance this was a nod, or something else directed at Ally Sheedy? It's noted that at one time Stoltz lived with Ally Sheedy in college. I found it to be too much of a coincidence.

That's so funny. I noticed that right away too. Weren't Ally and Eric in movies together? They were in the whole brat pack gang together. . .

I was thinking the same thing - just too much of a coincidence - not exactly like Sheedy is a common name. I undestand that they are still friends after all these years. Sort of like how he is still good friends with Jennifer Jason Leigh who he lived with after he broke up with Sheedy. JJL recommended him for the cameo as a father to her kid in Childstar when she saw the kid had red hair. So you never know.

I thought this particularly funny because in interviews Eric stated this kid could have really been their child - it was particularly funny because the kid was born during the period that they were living together, so I think he meant more than the simple fact that he looked like them.

Maybe it was the most interesting thing about this piece of crap.

"Allison Sheedy"... at least they could have casted her.

It looked to me like something slipped in inadvertently and then decided to keep. Neither of the parents were integral to the series so when someone fleshing out the script need parents names for a Heather Sheedy someone likely thought it funny to have Ally as the mother, then it goes to print, ends up on scene boards and typed in to a database until one of the producers notices it and says "Who's the joker here?"

This has happened before with the likes of Elton John where someone has thought a person with no dialogue needs a name for the script, but forgets their may be a scene where they are shown wearing a name badge. These days they generally ensure that any extra is not given a name unless absolutely necessary and just credit them in documents as "seated man #1" etc. Spoilsports.
