Series 3 prospects?

OK, well, series 2 has come to an end, and very well it ended too.

My question is, brilliant though it is, should there be a series 3? Writer Harry Cripps has brought Paul and Rachel about as close to getting together as is possible without actually pairing them off. The ending to this second series was very reminiscent of how Rising Damp (both the series and the film) ended, in which they were almost brought together, but then one balls-up at the end kept them apart.

Could the quality be kept up in a third series? Possibly. But if they do have a third series, then that should really be it. Get them together at the end of that, and then leave it. With very few exceptions, all the best comedy shows knew when to stop, and not "devalue the currency" of the existing episodes by making more.

I speak as a fan - I don't want it to go downhill. If they don't make any more series, I can live with that. If they carry on until infinity, I will still watch it, but I may get concerned that the quality could dip. I just don't think they should attempt more than one further series.

You can get both series of Supernova from http://dvd247.tripod.com/rob_brydon.html - either trade or donate a few quidz. I got them both and they arrived in a few days.
