Ending not that great

Obvious spoilers ahead!

The final battle was too quick. So what was so great about those Venoms and their pilots when they were dispatched one after another without using some super special skill or something? One died because of hitting the ground, one was ordinarly shot in the stomach and so on. Only two Venoms used their lambda drives.
And what kind of girl is Kaname? Why the buck did she yell at Sousuke in Hong Kong? That man risked everything to save her and his companions many times and she still finds him coward and worthless man. He's just been thrown out of the window by the explosion after killing his long time enemy, thought his loved one was killed and she just yelled at him and everything was back to normal.
And then, back in the school, the teacher did have laser sight targeted on her and still it does not matter, because this Kaname girls just doesn't listen.
She's got some serious issues, and if she wasn't just a manga/anime character, I would send her to the therapy as she behaves like a sociopath.
Great show nevertheless, but the ending leaves something to desire (I don't think it is a proper English sentence, please correct it if you would!).

I'm glad to find this thread. Let me just say, I totally disagree with you :D Well, not totally ;)

The final battle was a little rushed. But I think it only emphasized the fact that as long as Sousuke is able to deal with his emotions and figures out what he wants (ie, Kaname and go back to school with her, be a regular high school student), he simply is the best fighter there is, with the Arbalest, and nobody can fight back against him...

That's really what it is all about. He accepted who he was, what he wanted, and accepted that he was part of what was wrong with the Arbalest...

The reason all the venoms died so fast and "easily" (hurting the ground etc.) is because all the blows that Sousuke dealt were loaded with super powerful lambda drive !

Also, I think Kaname is awesome ! She's so different from the typical simpering anime heroin.

ending leaves something to desire

Are you French ? That's a French expression :D

She yelled at Sousuke because the last time she had seen him they had a conversation about whether or not she could really trust Mithril and that Sousuke was the only person she could trust and he told her he would always protect her. Then he runs off without so much as a goodbye just because he was ordered to. Yes, he hated that order and was angry about it but from Kaname's perspective he just vanished, and she was almost killed as a result. I don't think she finds him cowardly or worthless at all- she clearly has had very strong feelings for him since very early on but has trouble expressing it. The novels give much more insight into both Kaname and Sousuke's thoughts and feelings about each other. I really liked the ending, especially the little bit on the train after the credits (which was not in the original novel) the endings of the next novels after that are far, far worse for any KanamexSousuke fans but with the very final one out in August I am hoping they get a happy ending (and that a new series of the anime can be made! )
