Is there going to be a sequel??

I realy really loved TSR, Oh the DRAMA!!! And an angsty Sousuke, what's not to love....???

But I felt somewhat bitter that the series just... ENDED... we finally see some relationship development between Chidori and Sousuke and BOOM its the last episode!

Anybody have any news of if they r going to be continuing this or not?

SPOILER WARNING!!!! Don't read further if u don't like spoilers.

Anybody know who the woman was who brought chidori to sousuke at the end? the one who was talking to the general too... and looks somewhat like melissa?

thanx it'll help a bunch...

reply

While I don't know if there will be a sequel, I do know that...

*Spoilers*

The woman who brought Chidori to Sousuke was Wraith.

*************SPOILERS********
But wasn't Wraith the big fat guy who was spying on chidori earlier and was actually yu fang or something like that (one of the psycho sisters) i dunno... i'm confused. i am pretty sure wraith was a guy....

thanx!

reply

Wraith was an agent who was left to watch over Chidori, and he seemed to be the guy. However, after the fight with those "psycho sisters" on the roof, we can see that he was actually carrying a mask (it was broken). His voice sounded kind of unnatural as well. So in fact he only pretended to be a guy and what we see in the last episode is how he (ok, obviously it's SHE now) really looks.

There is no news of a sequel as of now. However, personally I believe there will be one. The question is when? It took 3 years to make a sequel to the original FMP (well, not taking into account Fumoffu, since it's not really a sequel), so it may take a long while to produce The Third Raid. Anyway, THIS IS NOT THE END OF A STORY. There are novels that tell what happens to Chidori and Sousuke after the events in TSR, and what is even more pleasant, they have been translated into English (not all of them though). They can be found at www.boku-tachi.net. The one that comes right after TSR is called "A Dancing Very Merry Christmas" and it's fully available in English. So if you really can't wait any longer, you're welcome to read :)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! I loooove yoouuuu!!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy

reply

By the way, just for reference, the novel TSR itself if based on is called "The End of Day by Day" and is also available in English on that same site. "Continuing on My Own" is, as far as I know, the last published novel (timewise comes after "A Dancing Very Merry Christmas") and it's not yet fully translated (but translation is going on).

how do i read them? when i dl one of them they do nothing

reply

i just finished watching TSR. i neva saw the first FMP but i did see fumoffu, so i think i missed a bit. Alot of the time i didnt know wot was going on in TSR, like all this talk of whispereds and many other things that i would probly understand if i had seen the first FMP series.
TSR is the best anime ive watched. even better than ghost in the shell.
hope sum sort of sequel is released...

reply

Corse it's the best of all the animes in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I might be a bit biased but still, this is the best by far and nothing even comes close to it (I watch the WHOLE FMP in one day) In case anyone wanna know, I stared with FMP!F then TSR ( which I understand plenty since my friend told me every needed fact and then, After some very serious begging, I got the guy to give me the first FMP which, as previously mentioned, I watch in one day from 9AM to 10PM

reply

fumoffu is just a parody of FMP as it doesnt really directly
fall into the main story. But damn its great watching, as for the
first season yeah I would definitely watch it. TSR just continues..

" I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code. "

I think that there almost definately will be a sequel in the future.
The full metal panic saga is actually based on a series of short japanese novels.
The original author of FMP (cant remember his name) is actually 2 or 3 novels ahead of the TSR story arc so the plot lines for at least one or two more anime series' are ready and waiting to be put into production.
However, although the FMP saga is wildly successful in Japan and doing well in the west, i havn't heard any news about about them continuing the anime.

You can find the next 2 translated novels which follow on from 'the end of day by day' (the novel/story arc that TSR is based on) at www.boku-tachi.net.
I highly recommend reading them if you're wanting to continue with the story without waiting X years for the anime. Although the translation of a novel doesn't compare to seeing the characters come to life through animation, the story arcs following TSR really begin to pick up the pace of the FMP saga.

Also, according the author's foot-notes in the novels, the story arc after TSR entitled "a dancing, very merry christmas" (i know...poor english for the title but the actual translations available at boku-tachi are superb) only marks the estimated HALF WAY point for the entire saga!
So, if they do decide to continue turning the boks into anime series' then rest assured we will have many more FULL METAL PANIC anime series' for many more years to come.

Oh and i've noticed some people are a bit confused on these forums about the order of the anime series:

FULL METAL PANIC- Season 1
FULL METAL PANIC: Fumoffu- is essentially season two but comprises of various, funny short stories that appeared in the the FMP novels but were ommited from season 1 of the anime due to length.
FULL METAL PANIC: The Second Raid- is really season three but can be considered the second but of the main anime story arc.(based on the novel 'the end of day by day')

The next story arcs that follow on from TSR would be based on the novels:
'A Dancing Very Merry Christmas'(which isn't a pointless Xmas special like it sounds like lol) and 'Continuing on my own' (where the general story REALLY picks up pace).

*beep* ive written a lot ... hope that helps

what is sigma then ?????

i really like this anime, not silly like some of the other out there

and very funny some times!!

This is YOUR LIFE and it is ending one minute at a time!

reply

FMP Sigma is the manga taken from The End Of Day By Day novel and it is closer to the original story

i don't know if it is published in english speaking countries but the guys at boku-tachi.net have translated the very first chapters

concerning the long novels:

1-Fighting Boy Meets Girl FMP! first anime series + manga
2-Running One Night Stand FMP! first anime series + manga
3-Rocking Into The Blue FMP! first anime series + manga
4-The End Of Day By Day part1 FMP! TSR + FMP!Sigma(manga)
5-The End Of Day By Day part2 FMP! TSR + FMP!Sigma(manga)
6-Dancing With Very Merry Christmas
7-Continuing On My Own
8-Burning One Man Force
9-untitled planned novel
10-untitled planned novel
11-untitled planned novel

about the 11th novel:the author stated in the 7th one that he has plans for three or four more FMP novels this means that the series can finish with the tenth one

there are also short novels which have the Fumoffu! mood and stand aside the story (they do not take it further and are autoconclusive just like the fumoffu episodes) some of them have been put in the first manga and anime series but i do not know which and when

you can find translation of the 4th,5th,6th and 7h novels on boku-tachi until their rights for countries other than japan will be bought

reply

Thanks for the good read.

reply

Apparently Tokyopop has aquired the licence for the FMP! novels so they should be bringing them out soon hopefully.

Still haven't heard anything about a new series though.

reply

Lets cross our fingers and hope that they make a sequel after the books are done

reply

The next few books after Book 6 get incredibly dark. What they're probably waiting for is a book with a mildly pleasing ending to at least end the next set of episodes on a good note with. Since the author works so closely with the animation production team, I think he wants to be at a point where he can finish writing the novels for a while and focus on the new episodes. Frankly it's better having the actual author around to help with the animation so this is a good thing.

Any news on new episodes?
